Doesn't come burnished but that is a good thing
I really like the style of these shoes. No they are not burnished like in the picture but that's actually great. Most of the time pre-burnished shoes are painted which eventually looks awful. It takes 20 minutes to put darken the toe and heel with whatever color you want. The entire shoe needs to be cared for before wear. A good cream polish then adding a wax polish on top of it will prevent them from absorbing water and discoloring. This is normal for any decent leather shoes. There is very little finish on these out of the box, but if your color isn't sticking while burnishing you need to strip them. I do it with alcohol wipes takes about 2 minutes and then they are ready to be conditioned and sealed. I wear them only about 5-6 times a month but I've had them for over a year now and they still look brand new because I take care of the leather. Quality overall is good for a $100 or less shoe. It's not the same construction quality as a $300+ shoe, but you can get these looking great. I used a combination dark brown/black wax polish on the toe and heel and this leather is very easy to pull it to a mirror finish.

Well Made Comfortable Dress Shoe
The front toe is much lighter in appearance than pictured. Comfortable well made shoe! I work in sales and walk around a significant amount of time so support is important, especially with past plantar fasciitis issues.

He loves it.
Gift for my boyfriend. He loves it. Great shoes, comfortable. Does not look cheap. Normally cost $90 and above. I bought it for almost $60 on the size 10. Good material and the stitching looks very nice. Pair it with slacks or jeans. Thank you Steve Madden and to Amazon.

Nice shoes, run at least a full size small
Actually, the shoes were a better quality than I expected from Steve Madden. However, they run quite small. I typically wear a size 16, ordered them and sent them back due to being too small. Ordered a 17, and could discern almost no difference in size from the 16 I had previously had. Both were sent back, and I “sized out” of this issue. Padding and arch support were ample, and better than expected for this style. Had they fit, I would’ve kept them.
