Perfect for extra tall but skinny
My daughter is 7, 41 pounds. but built as skinny as a piece of paper. But as tall as an oak tree. Size 8 for the length. I'm super glad they have an adjustable waist. These pants will last a long while and will stay in good shape. Going to buy more. Good price for 2 pairs

Too tide, too long
My daughter is an average 10 year old girl. These regular jeans size 12 (!) unfortunately are too tide for her and of course way too long.

Strange cut, runs big. Check the Children's Place website size chart
Purchased size 16 for a 5'6" 100 lb girl. 26" waist, 34" hips. These fit like mom jeans with a boot cut. Super relaxed around the hips but not in a flattering way. length was just okay; they won't be dragging on the ground that's for sure. Someone with 38" hips would have fit into them. The Walmart brand Wonder Nation has a way better fit with a bit longer length. The adjustable waist is a royal pain. It took the two of us to move the button and then the waist was still too big. She can pull them on without unzipping the fly. For a shorter girl, this waist would sit very high. As it is, it hits her right at the navel. These jeans are cut more like a women's size because of the ample hip room. The front pockets are very shallow. Just weird jeans. I feel like the size 14 would be too short. I suggest you go to the Children's Place website and look at their size chart. It's different from Amazon's.
