Helps with bad breathe
I previously tried Tom's prebiotic toothpaste and was pleasantly surprised that it has dramatically reduced my bad breathe. I really enjoyed waking up in the morning and not having stinky breathe that I wanted to buy more but wasn't able to find it anywhere. I guess they discontinued it? I saw this and it seemed similar and thought to try it out. I have read the reviews saying the aftertaste was horrible, but so far I don't mind it. I used a chickpea size amount and it has improved my breathe after about a week or 2 of use! Its not a dramatic improvement as the prebiotic one did, but it is working as I wanted so I am pleased.

Love this toothpaste!
This toothpaste is different from other Toms of Maine toothpaste products. While it’s not super minty tasting nor I it foamy, it leaves your teeth and your whole mouth feeling very clean and fresh. I tried it on a whim me now I’m hooked.

Just to be clear: this contains SLS (and fluoride)!
I feel that Tom's is being deliberately evasive and dodgy in their marketing. So just to be clear, this product does indeed contain sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). You might not notice it from the product description, since they seem to go out of their way to list all of things it doesn't have…formaldehyde donor (what?), gluten, propylparaben, microbeads, and on and on, and yes, they even include sodium laurETH sulfate (SLES) in their "not included" list. I guess I was a little too hasty in ordering, since I assumed that with all of those other "not included"s, it surely wouldn't include SLS, right? Well, the joke's on me. It arrived today, and it does include SLS. The Tom's website is quick to point out that there is a lot of misinformation about SLS on the internet, and I'm sure they're right, but some of us have very sensitive mouths. I have personally found that whether the SLS or some other ingredient is the culprit, avoiding toothpastes with SLS is usually a good way for me to avoid mouth irritation and inflammation. I have tried the toothpaste, and so far, it has not caused me any irritation or inflammation. It tastes OK. I personally prefer a milder-tasting toothpaste, but I can live with it. I would normally give this four stars, but until Tom's makes it very clear that this contains SLS, I'm holding back a star! One final note, the Amazon description at the time I am writing this claims that this is both "fluoride free" and that it "contains fluoride for anticavity protection." I'm not sure who's to blame there, Amazon or Tom's, but just to be clear, this does contain fluoride.

The taste is good but this particular flavor is too runny for toothpaste.
Tom's over all is one of the best toothpastes out there. The taste is good, and it's effective, however this particular one (cool mint) is too runny. It won't stay on my toothbrush and is more gooey than like a paste. The other flavors I've tried don't have that problem.

The page selling Tom's PureActive Teeth + Gum Health* Natural Anticavity Toothpaste Gel 4.0oz , 3-Pack claims it is; "FLOURIDE FREE, Gluten Free, Formaldehyde Donor Free, Mineral Oil Free, Phthalate Free, Propylparaben Free, SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE (SLES) Free, ARTIFICIAL FLAVORS Free, ARTIFICIAL SWEETENERS Free, Microbeads Free, Animal Fat Free, Deithanolamine (DEA) Free, Polyethylene Glycol (PEG) Free, Triethanolamine (TEA) Free" while the ingredients list on the screen for this item says it has, "Active ingredient(s): SODIUM FLOURIDE 0.24% (0.15% w/v fluoride ion) Inactive ingredients: Water, SORBITOL, Hydrated Silica, XYLITOL, Glycerin, Sodium Chloride, SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE, Zinc Citrate, NATURAL FLAVOR, Xanthan Gum, CARAGEENAN." and the ingredient list on the side of the package says it has, "water, SORBITOL, hydrated silica, XYLITOL, glycerin, sodium chloride, SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE, zinc citrate, NATURAL FLAVOR, xanthan gum, CARAGEENAN Depending on which list you chose to trust, this is hardly a clean or even natural product with two alcohol sugars (sorbitol and xylitol), sodium lauryl sulfate (instead of sodium laureth sulfate, both are carcinogens and included in almost everything so you can have nice bubbles), natural flavor (one or more lab produced substance usually created to enhance flavor, profit and addictiveness with at least trace amounts of something natural) and carageenan (known to cause digestive disorders). Tom's is no longer clean.

Terrible aftertaste
This might be a very good toothpaste but it has an unbearable aftertaste.
