Easy align, easy punch, superb

(1) My old noname home punch would only do 3 pages at a time. (2) Five years ago, I fussed with a Boston $50 steel lever punch -- it had lots of adjustments, so I spent lots of time adjusting, little time punching, and was frustrated with the results. (3) My wife raved about her office hole punch, and brought it home for me to try -- the Universal 74325. In the time (5 minutes) I badly punched 10 pages with the old noname punch, I later punched 200 pages at 20 pages a time with the Universal 74325. Great. This Universal permanently fixes the spacing between the 3 holes and permanently fixes the depth (corresponds to left margin of paper) to punch holes -- no adjustment there at all -- great. It does have an adjustment for the top/bottom margin, but that adjustment snaps for 11" tall paper (8-1/2 x 11")-- while I prefer no adjustment, this works well, and accommodates those stuck with 8 x 10-1/2" paper. It's made of thick solid steel. It's hole making cutters are sharp on the outside edge and V-cut on the inside unlike my old awkward expensive Boston punch. The punched holes accumulate in a reservoir and empty through a softer (not brittle hard) plastic pull tab in a corner -- not awkward but perfect for quick opening and quick closing, unlike that Boston expensive punch that had a badly fitting tin pan on the bottom. I was planning on buying a $36 Carl 63040 punch with good reviews, but I haven't used it and have used this Universal 74325. I don't wish for anything more, and can't see the possibility for improvement, except permanently fixing the top/bottom margins for 8-1/2 x 11" paper since I need no accommodation for 8 x 10-1/2" paper. As my wife returns this Universal punch to her office, I buy the Universal 74325 for myself.

Hole Punch

This is a great hole punch. I was looking for something that could punch more than three pages at a time and this will do a lot. It does a nice smooth job too.
