Great pants if you have a small butt
Really liked how these pants could be used both in an office setting as well as rugged outdoor activities. That's specifically why I bought them. They look good and I'm sure are durable pants, however, I did have to return them because of how tight they were around the butt. Hence the 4 stars instead of 5. I looked in the mirror while wearing them and it looked like they just went down in a practically straight line where my butt was. Definitely wouldn't have a hope for CCW. If you have a small butt, definitely get these pants.

Some of the nicest everyday pants out there.
I use these for both outdoor and indoor activities -- they're comfy at the desk, obviously, and if you put stuff in the pockets you won't look like a moron. Outdoors, though, they excel. They're great in the summer, but there's very little insulation, which I imagine is by design. Plenty of stretch without binding, and true to size. I'm not kicking doors and dropping tangoes, but I've never had to doubt myself at a USPSA or 3-gun match, or baby them hauling metal stuff around the prop shed.

zippered pocket to prevent pickpocketing
I got these primarily because they have a zippered pocket (on the right side) to prevent pickpocketing. They are very well made, fit better than the Vertex Phantom OPS pants, but too wide at the bottom. I will have to get them tailored for a proper fit.

Not what you might expect for the cost.
So for pant quality and material choice. The pants do really well. Anything outdoors, you should find a good hiking/utility pant. My 3 star rating comes from the baggy-ness and the rough zipper for the groin. I’ve posted two picture that show both the baggy feel and the comparison to another pant of the exact same size, but there’s clearly and overlap for these vertx pants. I might consider these good for working outside all day, but for a diverse pant that looks and feels good. I’m not sold so far. Can’t wear baggy clothes to work in white collar. Looks unprofessional. FYI I’m 6’4 and about 180, so on the tall and lean side. I typically I have to find a 34/34 or 32/34 and these are 34/34, that fit decent around the waist, but as seen in my comparison photo are longer than they should be for an inseam of 34 inches. I’d recommend these if they fit better, or if you like baggy clothes.

Nice Pants
These have well thought out pockets. Fabric has a subtle tactical look and feel. Haven’t had a bad Vertx product yet. Good company.

They are true fit so order a size up from your normal jeans. They at a little tight in the crotch but not bad.

Vertx takes a huge step back with this design
I've worn Vertx pants on a semi-regular basis for work for over 10 years The original pants were built like a tank. When my 5.11's wore out I found these Vertx Phantom LT 2.0 pants on Amazon for a good price. I didn't hesitate to order with my personal history with this company. Wow, what a mistake. I'll quickly breakdown the Pros and Cons... Pros: nice material, quality stitching, already came hemmed in my length. Cons: Zipper is too short. This makes it hard to tuck in your shirt and harder if you are a guy and need to pee and aren't hung like a two year old. No security flaps on back pockets to help keep wallet or note book secure. Knife/accessory pockets too shallow. I can't use it for my SOCP. One zipper document pocket on right side instead of one on each side. Why hate on the lefties? No secondary button for the waistband. If you have a blowout with the button there's nothing else there to help hold your pants fastened. Come on Vertx, cheaper companies like LA Police Gear and Tru-Spec are looking out for our modesty, why not you? Overall I've already washed them and worn them for a shift so I guess I'm stuck with them. I'll stash them away in my locker at work as an emergency spare JIC. Update, I dropped my rating a star. I was exposed to biohazard material at work and had to wear these pants for the remainder of my shift. I HATE these pants. The pants are short waisted and hard to keep a shirt tucked in. The material is a hair/lint magnet. Every time I go to the bathroom I risk serious bodily harm to my male member due to the small zipper opening. If we weren't currently in a burn ban I would torch these pants.

I liked the older ones better, but these are fine!
I've worn the VTX8000's for years, but they don't make them anymore so I had to switch over to these. The major difference I've noticed is that the material seems slightly thicker/more durable/scratchy, it feels a bit more fitted (but not tight) in most areas, and the cuffs are tighter. (they don't fit over my shoes anymore)
