Not suitable rating for most whole house fans

I'm sure this timer would've worked great on another type of installation and I'll be keeping it for another purpose. However, do not purchase this timer for the purpose of timing the operation of most whole house fans. Though it is a product recommendation next to the low/high on off switch that I purchased, most attic fans are more in the 1/3 horsepower rating. This timer is rated at 1/4 hp. The current surge required to start the fan motor is too great for this timer and causes the breaker to trip every time. Had to ho back to just the on off switch. But, I think the timer will work for a different project.

It installs just like a light switch

I have an exhaust fan in my garage that used to be an attic fan. It helps to pull the heat out of my garage and exhaust other oders too. When I come home my car is hot and can really warm up my garage and in the summer I don't want that so i just turn the fan on for 4 hrs and walk away, the sitch does the rest

CEILING FAN TIMER

I replaced the of/off switch to the bedroom ceiling fan with this. Now if I don't want the fan running all night, I just click the number of hours for it to run. ALso folks, this thing has a brother scaled in 5-10-15-30 minutes. After being pleased with the ceiling fan switch I replaced the bathroom vent fan switches with these.. After a shower, I just click however many minutes I want the vent fan to run to remove the steam and leave. Don't have to remember to go back turn it off which is important if the vent fan is pumping out your air conditioned or heated air. These switches are white, so if you're installing them in an almond colored switch plate (and maybe in a two switch plate (light/fan), for $3-4 at the local big box you can replace the almond colored switches and plates with white ones to make everything match. These things are much cheaper at Amazon than they are at big boxes, especially if you have Prime.

Effective and easy to use timer

This is a very effective and easy to use timer. Woods' next generation of it will no doubt provide a more versatile and precise method of setting the duration, such as a 0-999 minute display with up/down arrows for setting each digit. It's amazing that it fits in a single gang space. I mounted it in a 4+5/8" square gray plastic box with a duplex socket, standard white two-gang decora cover and power cord with grip. I use it to prevent over-charging expensive battery packs (for drills, saws, etc.) which are supplied with a "primitive" (unregulated and untimed) charger. Each press of the button in the bottom left corner cycles through the 4 durations (and back to off) to select the desired interval. Once running, the display shifts down and displays the maximum remaining time, also a nice feature. For example, after 4 hours at "12", "8" will display, etc.

Works exactly as described.

Per the description, this switch needs to be installed with a common (white) conductor. This allows the green LED to light during the countdown as well as the red LED pilot light to show when the switch has cycled to the off position.

Timer works great!

I tested this against another timer and I have to say I am very impressed. It is accurate to within a second +/-. Highly recommended.

Great timer for the price

Great product, great price, easy to follow instructions. My first one is working great and has the 1,2,4,8 hours setting. This one will be use to keep my roof drain (have a flat roof) from freezing

Exactly what I was looking for

Was easy to install and works as desired. Totally silent operation - no buzzing that people with similar switches have reported. Was delivered quickly and without damage. Switch has been installed for a month now and there has been no problems. Less expensive than similar Leviton switch.
