Best work gloves I've ever owned!

I've owned these gloves for about four months and have used them for a variety of work tasks including hauling hay, yard cleanup, ATV riding and general utility work. I love the fact that they fit like mechanics gloves, but provide the protection of leather work gloves. I used to buy mechanics gloves because I liked being able to perform a lot of tasks without taking off my gloves, but they wear out fast and it got expensive to keep replacing them. I went to work finding a solution and these gloves fit the bill. They aren't as thin as mechanics gloves, but they do fit closer than standard leather gloves. I expected the stitching to wear out by now, but all the stitches are still in place. The Velcro wrist straps are excellent quality and are holding like they were still new. I will definitely buy these gloves again if they ever wear out. I bought the waterproof versions of these same gloves at the same time for work in the winter and I am excited to test them out as well. Update: 3/25/2012 The fabric on the side of my index and pinky finger of my right hand wore out and it opened a hold on the side of each finger. I stitched them back up and I'm good to go again. The need for the repair work doesn't change my rating of this product. These are still the best gloves I've owned.

Almost...

I only ever get one season out of any glove I buy. If they make it spring - fall without the fingers falling apart I give them a thumbs up. The finger pads on these unstitched on a couple fingers around the end of September, which is a little earlier than I would like. They were constructed well, so I was still able to use them with minimal issues. They were very comfortable, and fit my hands well. I would be tempted to buy them again, but I likely would not because they just didn't hold up quite as well as I would like. But I am extremely tough on work gloves. ____________________________________________ A little side note: I've seen comments on these gloves that state that the gloves changed style from when people purchased them to when they went back to leave comments on them. Maybe the style changed from a previous year to a new year, but if it's not the same product then Amazon shouldn't be lumping all the reviews together. This may be why some of the reviews say the gloves are great, and some say they fall apart quickly. Perhaps Amazon should sort this out.

These are good gloves, but...

They do wear out quickly in my usage pattern. I use them for outdoor work maintaining my suburban property so raking, clearing, weeding, etc. I would say with my use I use 2 pair / year as I can destroy them quickly it seems.

Very Durable-- These LAST

This is a long-term review after about 3 years of use-- see photo to show how well Youngstown gloves wear. These are super high quality and rugged gloves. I used to go for the Mechanix all the time, but the cloth on those don't last long, especially around the fingers if you get anywhere near a gritty surface like dirt. I have another pair of Youngstown carpenter gloves (which are fingerless on the index finger and thumb) that have lasted for YEARS and are nowhere near wearing out. I would warn that the Mechanix gloves are much more comfortable than these, as the cloth on the Youngstown is stiffer... but that should be expected. I'd recommend these for 90% of real work uses, and maybe have a pair of Mechanix gloves for non-rugged use where comfort is more of a factor.

Great Gloves, Hands Down.

These are the best gloves I've worn. They're comfortable, dextrous, and really stand up to the abuse I've given them. Looks like they've raised their prices a bit and redesigned them from when I first wrote this review, but if they still function like they did before, then they're still worth it. The hard synthetic-leather patches never feel like they limit my handle on things, but keep both the gloves and my hands from getting splinters or other shards stuck in them. I love the little terry-cloth bit on the back of the thumb (where I don't get much wear anyway) perfect for wiping dust and grime off my face. It's the little things. They're hard to find in the local hardware stores nowadays. Not sure why, I love these things. Granted, if you're going to mostly be doing auto-work, you probably want to look at the Mechanix line of gloves, which are suited specifically for that use (and you can't argue with Nascar pit crews). But for tougher jobs, wood, masonry, whatever, these are great. Hands-down, a great pair of gloves.

High quality, comfortable, durable gloves

I recently picked these gloves up because the weather up here in New Hampshire is getting cold fast. I work outside monitoring construction sites & I really needed something that would keep my hands warm but still allow me to handle small tools, write, but not fall apart after using my hands to rip apart wall or toss around some concrete. I realize these won't keep my hands toasty warm, but that's not what I expected. I need that mid-layer type of glove just like this. These gloves aren't for snowmobiling mind you - but cleaning off the car and quick tasks in the cold are fine. The grips are in just the right spots to keep the wear and tear from my job from destorying these in three months. I actually love the fact they have a portion of the glove specifically for wiping sweat. You don't want tough, rigid grips scraping across your forehead. All in all, best work glove I've found. I'm picking up two more pairs to store in my truck & to use at home.

They fit!

I love that for the first time in a long time my hands made it passed the cuff. My only complaints are that the strap for the cuff became such a annoyance because of the velcro that I cut it off. The other is that the thumb is too long. Considering all in all those are pretty minor beefs so if you have large hands and have been looking for something that fits I recommend you give these consideration

NOT BIG ENOUGH

I have large hands. I normally get an x large size. I tried this xxx large size and could not get them on my hand. I was very disappointed and returned them. They look like good quality but the sizing is small.

Not for big hands

Bought these as they seemed to be the biggest advertised, but they do NOT fit comfortable. I am 6"8 and they do not fit my "tiny" hands. The look to be quality built but felt uncomfortable (thick), but I have not yet been able to use them yet, so it might just be the fit.
