Needs to be redesigned to deal with newer fat skis

We bought this bag to allow us to transport two sets of skis, one pair is 172cm, the other is 179cm. They are both considered fat skis (Line Prophet 90's), but are by no means the fatest skis available currently. I tried every permutation of getting these skis situated in the bag, but all resulted in the same thing - unable to close the bag and do the zipper up. Everytime the tip-tails of the skis would catch on the other pair and make closing the zipper impossible. Even if you were able to close the zipper (which I wasnt), the skis would bang and scratch one and other at the ends. I must say that I REALLY wanted the skis to fit and tried everything to make it work. The reason for this is that this bag is a fantastic design and I am sure will protect normal parabolic skis very well. It is great in terms of the protected areas and the wheels and they really have thought throw how skiers will transport their equipment. The tethering internally is very well thought out and shows the overall high quality of what the manufacturing process has been designed to. I still really wish my skis would fit, but it was not meant to be. Summary: Fantastic bag, very high quality, great protection, just no good for two pairs of the fatter newer skis. I would guess that it would work with normal modern parabolic skis, but seeing as the industry seems to be heading towards the fatter style skis, this bag needs to undergo a redesign very soon. End result: I returned this bag and am on the lookout for another good protection wheeled double bag for this season....

Beautiful bag

This is a very beautiful, well constructed bag. It holds and protects two pairs of skis and poles and holds them securely in segregated compartments so that they don't damage each other with rough handling. Have taken my skis for several trips using the airlines and the bag comes through quite nicely. It easy to spot this bag in the baggage claim since it is pretty unique so you can identify your equipment very quickly. The only design flaw is that the wheels are not at the very end of the bag...you tend to drag the end of the bag on the ground when you are pulling the bag by the wheels

Great Ski Bag!

Great ski bag! This bag fits 2 pairs of skis and two sets of poles. The molded sections offer protection where its needed. The wheels make transporting easy. The handles are comfortable and high quality. I am confident this bag will keep my equipment in great condition. Also, I have purchased several products by Athalon and can speak from experience that their warranty is top notch. One of my other Athalon bags was damaged by baggage handlers at the airport (really abused my stuff). Athalon replaced that bag under warranty within a week. I will continue to buy bags from Athalon.

Smaller than expected

This bag is quality construction but in order to get 2 pairs of skis in you have to stagger the bindings, and we only have 80 mm wide skis. If you have fatter skis you will only get one pair in.

A total waste of money

I am most upset that it is advertised as a double ski bag. Don't kid yourself. Unless you have tech bindings this bag is for one pair only. A total waste of money. And my bag is full of DPS and Kastle. So I bet they cancel my review. For one pair it is adequate. Can you imagine what TSA would leave you with after careful packing?

Great for air travel

Great for air travel. Really protects your skis!! the wheels make it very easy to maneuver around. Those soft bags are no match for this!
