Threads need to be re-cut/tapped or will seize

There’s not much choice for a backplate mounting a cannon downrigger into the top of the gunwale. Be aware 1) the threads are poorly cut. The bolts will seize and strip if you do not buy a 1/4-20 tap and die kit to recut the threads in this thing 2) the plate is aluminum (painted ) and your bolts are stainless steel : they will fuse making this impossible to remove without damaging your boat. You MUST apply anti-seize , or tef-gel or very low strength threadlocker or you will have a fused object within a few months - you will regret not doing this right Next time I will probably remove these screws every year to prevent fusing on no -similar metals. Lesson learned! 3) uses truss-head screws that I’ve only seen at McMaster Çarr all screws are 1/4-20 of two different lengths four to bolt through the gunwale and four to bolt through the down-rigger base. It requires 4 flat head screws (I used 1/4-20 2.5” flathead) and four trusshead to go through the swivel base (1/4-20 1.5”). If you don’t tap and recut cleaner threads and and not very gently hand tighten they will be unremovable. You will need extra bolts when you destroy them in this case. You also need locknuts, washers, and nuts. 5) the black paint will flake off within a year or two Best of luck

Rock solid base!

Cannon mag 10 ST power downriggers with quick release and swivel mounted on these. Wider foot print mounted to the boat. gives a 1 screwdriver unmount of everything else for going out water skiing. Love these bases.

Sturdy and works but doesn't include hardware

I really wish this included hardware (bolts and screws). I'd happily pay a few bucks more to not have to make a trip to the hardware store to find screws to mount the downrigger bases.

Cannon Downrigger Deck Plate

The Cannon Deck Plate works perfectly for mounting on my boat's gunnels [Bass Tracker, Model Targa 185 (2009)] for providing a strong base for attaching Cannon downriggers (I use Cannon Uni-Troll 10 downriggers, with swivel bases). The deck plate is thick and strong. It is made of aluminum (with black powder coating). I do recommend the use of a good set of wide/strong stainless steel washers or a stiff metal plate to place under the gunnel to further reinforce both the boat's gunnel and the deck plate mount. Before ordering, I recommend you measure the space available on your boat's gunnel where you intend to attach the deck plate, as narrow gunnels may not easily accommodate the Cannon Deck Plate.

Pay Attention

I ordered this because it was what I needed. Too bad the description is completely wrong. The dimensions on the product say 9x7x2 but what I received was 6x5x1/2. Not a happy customer right now

Solid and looks good. Wish it had mounting hardware.

Seems solid and looks good. My downrigger mount fit well. Was a pain to find stainless mounting hardware. You need #14 flathead screws to mount. They are hard to find. Cannon, it would be great if you upped the price a few bucks and provided this. Other than that, i like this product and would buy again. The product is 5 star, gave it 4 due to pain in finding mounting hardware. The tracks come with it. Why don't these??

If you think you are getting a base plate to mount a Cannon pedestal to, then you will be disappointed. The tapped holes do NOT line up with the holes in the base of the pedestal. The actual product dimensions, minus the packaging, vary significantly from the description. The package is 208 mm(L) x 154mm(W) x 38 mm (H). Listed on Amazon is 40.1 cm x 24.9 cm x 8.4 cm. (401 mm x 249 mm x 84 mm). I can't find anything close to these numbers. The actual product dimension is 153 mm x 127 mm x 13 mm . (6" x 5" x 1/2") . The imperial measurement is incorrectly listed as 9" x 8" x 2" . I had contacted Cannon prior to purchasing this product, as I suspected the thickness listed was incorrect. I was told it must be an aftermarket product, as the only one they had was #1904000. I can say that the product I received was in Cannon packaging. The first line of the packaging reads 'For use with Cannon bases and pedestal mounts. Amazon, you need to do better. Who really cares about the packaging dimensions other than the shipper? I certainly don't. My next call is to Cannon, I'll have to see what they say...........Save yourself some money, i'm sure you can buy a piece of aluminum and tap it out for your individual needs.....

Wont fit Downrigger Pedestal!?!?

I have Cannon downriggers with pedestal mounts. These do not fit. You need “Rod Holder Deck Mount” for that, not these. Cannon is very unclear about that and I got stuck with 2 of these cuz I am beyond my return window. $70 in the garbage because I am beyond the return window and Cannon doesnt mention it anywhere
