A good base level devise that works very well

I generally use this adjustable load to check the capacity of usb connected batteries. It's a basic devise that allows you to adjust the discharge current up to a rate of 3 amps. To record the actual capacity I added the DROK power meter which will measure the discharge capacity in mah. This particular power meter does not save the mah measurement after the power is drained so I have added one that does. Overall I like the simplistic design of this unit. It makes it very easy to set up and use for discharge applications. Good product at a great price.

Just what I needed

So, I bought a new reclining sofa that has built in USB charging ports on the switches. One of the switches USB ports is shorted out to full power, and killed my son's iPad, and my wife's iPhone 7+. I bought this load to be used with anEversame USB Digital Power Meter Tester Multimeter Current and Voltage Monitor, DC 5.1A 30V Amp Voltage Power Meter, Test Speed of Chargers, Cables, Capacity of Power Banks-Black . It worked great for the 10 minutes I needed it. I used the pair to test an iPhone charger 5V 2.1A. I increased the load to 2.8A, and the charger dropped to only supplying 3V. I turned the load down to 2.1A and went to test my couch. The right side looked good. Both ports 5V 2.1A. I went over to the left side ports, slid the tester into the top port, and *POP!*, a spark, and the bottom of the power connector blew off this load. It sacrificed itself to obtain proof for my warranty claim with the manufacturer. I'm buying a replacement right now, so I'll have it available to test the repaired switch when the service call is completed.

Good little tool to have.

I use this to check the output current of my phone chargers to make sure they put out enough power to charge my stuff quickly. I mark on them with a sharpie what the max value each one can put out. I get rid of the old low current chargers.

It does what it says.

I have a 60000 mAh power brick that I have as an emergency power bank to charge USB devices. Once a month I need to drain it down to zero and then charge it back up to 100. This is exactly what I needed to do that.

Not bad

Works ok, I only downside I see. theres no thermal compound betweent the TIP122 Transistor and the heatsink Also a knob for the adjustment would be nice

Inexpensive but adequate for the job

The load can be adjusted to almost 2 amps and the built in fan comes on when needed to prevent it from getting hot. Easiest way to drain your USB battery banks so you can be ready to test their true capacity. Note, you must buy a device to measure the charge and I recommend the Klein tools ET 920 USB test unit found on Amazon. It is bulletproof and made by a well know electrical tools manufacturer.

This product works GREAT!

I use this product to set a constant 5 volt 1.0 amp load to test the power capacity of USB battery packs. I plug a USB power meter into the battery's USB port and then plug the DROK Micro Load Battery Tester Board into the power meter. This give me an easy way to compare different battery packs. It works great!

Does exactly what I wanted.

I used this device to put a load on a small boost board in order to test its reliability. I used it in conjunction with an inline load meter to verify the current capabilities of that board. If you adjust it up above a certain point that the heat sink alone won’t dissipate, the tiny fan will automatically kick on to prevent an overheating situation. Highly recommended!
