Great light if you have Pentair automation

I tested 6 different pool lights plus my existing 8 year old J&J Colorsplash 3G to this next generation Colorsplash LXG light from J&J (aka Halco) before selecting it for my remodeled pool. Note the picture shown in the amazon listing is actually the old 3G light. The new light is more compact and looks like an incandescent light bulb with metal radiators instead of using an internal fan with vents. It was not the brightest of the 6 pool lights I tested, but is 25% brighter than the 3G it is replacing which was already beautiful in my spa. This increased luminance is despite the wattage dropping from 42W to 23W so the light is certainly more efficient. The light also looks like one colorful bulb underneath the diffusor (just like an incandescent). The older 3G model had 14 visible LED lights. Most other pool lights use hundreds of smaller LEDs. For my pool design, I will have 2 lights in the main pool and 1 in the spa. I will also have 1 nicheless light in my separated sundeck area plus 3 nicheless lights under the grotto. J&J makes lights for these nicheless locations too and they can all be controlled by Pentair automation. By making the power cycling control of this light the same as the Pentair Intellibrite (J&J doesn't advertise this feature for some reason), the Pentair automation (i.e. Easytouch) can control these lights via your iPhone app (just like it would Pentair's overpriced and poorly built lights that I am avoiding). This is much better than another remote control that doesn't even work under the water! I can reliably control the light from anywhere in the world. Before finding this pool light, I was resigned to the fact that I would have two different types of pool lights (the incandescent replacement like this one being reviewed and the newer style of nicheless type) in my pool that would not be seamless in their operation or control. Now I can have everything synced together with whatever color schemes I like just like if I built a new pool from scratch. In addition, this light has by far the nicest transitions and color shows compared to cheaper Chinese lights. You can even lock in colors during the long transitions which effectively gives you millions of color choices... Finally, the longevity of my last colorsplash lasted for 8 years already and was still going strong so I feel good about this manufacturer's quality control. They have a 3 year warranty vs a 1 year warranty from the Pentair lights (or 60 days if self installed) that have notorious bad quality.

didn’t last

This my third different replacement LED replacement bulb for a standard pool light fixture. It didn’t make 100 hours. I’m going back to traditional incandescent.

Really Bright, tricky to control

Replaced regular incandescent lights, two in the pool and one in the spa. Easily replacement, no need to change any wiring or anything major. Took about 30-minutes per light and a lot of that was making sure new gasket (yeah but new gaskets!) sealed correctly. Light is super bright and saturates the pool, really beautiful and completely changed the pool! Only issue is that you have to power cycle the lights to get the color or color pattern you want. Takes some patience to get the hang of it, but did find the color pattern I liked.....and plan on never changing it. lol

This light is pretty but it won’t shut OFF.

It will NOT cut off. Initially installed for Labor Day. Flipped the light switch off & it went off. Cut it back on last weekend and now it will Not Flip OFF AT ALL.
