Useless for actually keeping you warm.

This coat is a bold fashion statement, but that's literally all it is. It would never keep you warm and it's too stiff to be cozy. I bought it because I really loved how it looked on the show, but didn't really think it through. I never go anywhere fancy enough to justify a coat like this, so it's just going to sit in my closet waiting for its debut.

Perfect fit for larger gals!

I know there are a lot of reviews here that the product is too long and needs alterations in sleeve length, hem and shoulders. I am 5'10" and weigh 220. I am a big girl and usually would not have purchased such an item online without the reviews saying it was built on the roomy side. Thank you to those reviewers, because of them I decided to take a chance. The garment fits beautifully. (You cannot tell from the photo on sleeve length because I am trying to hold in the below hand length sleeves of my blouse - probably should have changed for photos but couldn't wait to try it on.) The fabric is a lighter weight almost "fluffy" brocade, but it should be able to go over a medium weight sweater so I fully expect to use this during the holiday snowy season, but would be ditching it for down when the polar vortexes come through. The scarf is attached at the collar which I like, but you could easily undo the thread tacking it on. I might sit down with a needle and thread and give the four front snaps a few more stitches - just in case, but overall it seems to be well-made. It screams date night, holidays, or Sunday services. Classy classy classy! Great deal for the cost.

PLEASE MAKE PETITE ITEMS!!!

This is the most fabulous coat I've ever seen! However, I am 5'2". The fashion world seems to have accepted the fact that everyone is not a size 2, but now they need to realize that everyone is not 5'11". Because I love the coat, I will be spending the extra money to have at least a foot hemmed from the bottom and 4-6 inches from the sleeves. Thankfully with those changes it can be fixed to fit a shorter woman. PLEASE provide options for petites!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Beautiful!

This is a perfect dress coat to go over dressy wear ! I ordered a Size XL and I’m a womens 14. There was a lot of material so is definitely a full coverage dress coat, but not super thick so still good for Southern Winters. I’m pretty tall so the hem was okay but it still hit me midcalf. Only thing I didn’t like is that you cannot remove the scarf as it is sewed into a seam. I wish they would’ve made this removable.

Beautiful Coat - will order 1 size up!

I found the coat to fit a bit on the small size. I wear a size 16 and ordered the coat in XXL. I will be ordering the next size up. I love the coat - it's unique and that's what I'm always looking for - something that no one will have. The coat is fully lined. I plan on wearing it to the opera, symphony and other special occasions. I ordered it in silver metallic.

Not quite as lovely a design, but still beautiful. Runs small, even by their measure (which is already a full size smaller than what I normally wear).

A beautiful coat!

After reading all the reviews I decided to take a chance on this coat. I have watched all the Project Runways and Making the Cut. I was dying to purchase one of the creations. So, here’s my take on this coat. The material is metallic which makes it rough to the touch. However, it isn’t cheap as described by the reviewers. I sew and know about different types of fabric. The coat is fully lined and is well made. The scarf can be snipped off to allow you to change how you want to use it. It’s also made from a metallic fabric with a different pattern from the coat. It is long, but great for tall women like me. Sizing is generous and fits over my fat belly! It is not a winter coat, but will be perfect for the fall and spring. Highly recommended!

Enttäuschung

Dieser Mantel hat leider überhaupt keine Ähnlichkeit mit der Kreation von Jeanette Limas aus der 3. Folge Making the Cut Season 3. Als würde man die billigste Kopie auf einem Chinamarkt kaufen. Weder Farbe noch Muster besitzen eine Ähnlichkeit mit dem Original. Das Material hat Ähnlichkeit mit einer Steppdecke aus dem 1 Euro Laden. Wenn Amazon sich schon damit rühmt, die Kreationen der einzelnen Gewinner in ihrem Making the Cut Store zu verkaufen, sollten sie sich wenigstens die Mühe machen, dem Original gerecht zu werden.

Good in theory, not in practice

I am 5'6 and a size S, however this item is still very long and very bulky - would only suit a very tall and think person. It is also very complex on the draping element to work it out - I would not recommend.

Proportions off - big on shoulders and waist is high

Disappointed that I'm writing this because it's still a beautiful coat but Amazon are their usual helpful with returns so that's not an issue. I am 5'8' and ordered a 2XL. The proportions basically are off for someone like me - I am pretty evenly proportioned with a big bust but this was an odd combination of have a high waist, which was a big snug (but that's a different matter, I would've kept the coat if the other issues weren't off) but the positioning of the waist meant that the top half was too large on the shoulders and, given the sash (which is attached but you could easily unpick the stitching if desired) it felt bulky and like the coat was wearing you and not the other way around. There's a very happy picture of a lady wearing the coat here but I thought she looked swamped too but thought she'd bought a size to big or something but, hey, she's happy. I wouldn't say the fabric is heavy (as some have commented), it's brocade and not a wool coat but there is a lot of fabric and the swing of the skirt was rather awesome. However, another design issue for me (the length sit at half way down my calf) was that the pockets aren't on the side but on either side of the front (think like a hand muff rather than on your hips) - so not particularly useful for hands themselves if needed. The last thing is that from the photos, the fabrics look like black with a base of silver or copper but, actually, it's the other way around (so the metallic is dominant). Gorgeous fabric but ultimately more black would make the coats more wearable as an everyday coat (given the price is damned good for a winter coat). So, in summary, grrr- loved many things about this but I think the proportions would be better on someone who is taller with a longer torso. Hope that helps you, whoever you are!

Very festive coat-dress

I would disagree with the previous comment about the material quality. I found the textile OK. The coat-dress actually looks quite nice but unfortunately was a bit too long for my taste. It also looks extremely festive, not for everyday wear. All in all, I would recommend to try if it fits you and the occasion.
