Magnetic Key Box

Would buy again
I got this key box when I had my old truck. I'm an idiot that likes to lock myself out of my car, so I needed to keep a spare key somewhere in case I lost my keys anywhere or locked em in the cab. That thing never budged from the spot I put it, no matter what.

Good but could be better
Pros: Super strong magnet Light and thin, easily hidden Large opening with little resistance Large enough to fit a set of 3 keys and an airtag in a silicone case Cons: The cover basically breaks off with the force required to open it, every single time As stated, it's a pretty good key hider, but the one flaw is pretty bad. Maybe I got a bad one that sticks, or the tolerance is too low on the plastic, but every time I needed to open it, the force required to get it to let go would snap the cover off the track. Rather than return it, I just 3D printed a small nub to the top (mine is oversized, only really needed to be 1/4 of that height) and plastic welded it to the cover. This allows my thumb to open it with very little effort, major improvement. The manufacturer could easily have added a little nub extrusion to the cover for your thumb to grab, rather than the little intrusion that it has that offers little to no slide-grip. Anyway, otherwise a great unit for the price, if the manufacturer had added the nub it's easily a 5* product.

Magnet is strong, plastic box is not confidence inspiring.
It easily fits several keys, including large car keys, but plastic has cheap feel and I'd not be surprised if the magnet separates from the box. For non-critical use only. I would never trust attaching this to the underside of a vehicle.

Quality product from a quality name
Magnetic key holder by Masterlock is perfect for my need. I’m using this for a spare hidden key mounted to the underside of a utility meter. The case is a strong durable plastic that’s easy to open and close. The magnet is stronger than I anticipated. It costs a bit more than all the cheap versions, but worth it. I’m very pleased with this product.

Hide and seek champion
I purchased a few of these to use as geocache containers. They have been outdoors for months now, facing the elements, well and strongly attached by the magnet. They are also great for their intended purpose of hiding a key :) Great quality product and wonderful price!

Magnetic box
It is what it is. A plastic key box with a magnetic - doing the job for now. Not been using it long so not sure how long it will last. It is in quite a sheltered spot so hopefully will be ok. Not cheap for what it is but one of the better value ones out there

Good Magnet
The only way the magnesium could be improved is if it had a Neodymium magnet, Why I gave it the ratings is, Sturdiness the magnet is pretty sturdy. The lid is sturdier then it needs to be making it hard to very hard to open or extremely hard to open (a person with hand problems or a disability would have problems opening it) I personally thought I broke it several times trying to open it, The lid popped in (out of its slide track & in to where the key is held) Fortunately the far end was sticking out so it was easy to pull the lid back some & pop the lid back into its slide track, That happens every time it had to be opened....

I love it. ended up replace the magnet with industrial grade Velcro strips. way stronger. works great. Do not hang it upside down. its not strong enough. It will fall at some point.
