Great kit from a reputable company

I think I got this for $1.50 or so. I wanted a portable, lightweight, sewing kit for backpacking that could repair tears in tents or clothing and also adapt to a cheap way of making a fishing rod. This fit the ticket and I am happy with this purchase - especially for the price. I have several different items from Coghlan's and while they are not the highest quality on the market, all the products I have purchased from them has help up well. This item is no different. The storage case is plastic, and I may swap it out for something different in the future, but for now it works just fine.

Good value for the price

The quality items in this kit that make it worth the price: metal needle threader, needles (sharp - tried them on denim, cotton, & knit materials), 2 snaps & 8 buttons. The not so great items: box (broken), thimble (very cheap plastic & only fits your pinkie), thread - not enough to do more than sew on a button - if it's a big seam rip, you'll have to use several colors. On the fence about - the scissors - they're so funky (& cheap but cute) - they do cut thread... For the price & size, you get enough useful items to make it worth it.

Fits in a soap box, literally

In this case, fitting inside a soap box is a good thing. Soap does not fit inside the soap box wrapped, and I try to fill all spaces in the shoe box. I am adding it to a Christmas Child shoe box that is has lots of crafts (and a few other things). This is a "just in case" the person needs to ...say, finish off an edge or needs to add a button or snap to a craft. It's not useful for anything except small touch up sewing, but that is what I expected. Of course, it could be useful if the person had a wardrobe malfunction, too :).

Has everything you need

Cannot beat the value for the cost. This small kit has everything you would need for a sewing kit on the go. My only complaint is the scissors are a little weak, but they work perfectly well for cutting thread or small pieces of fabric.

affordable and compact

nice and compact, i did not open it as it is for my emergency kit. So i can not really judge the qality of the threads or needles. but im sure its a " You get what you pay for" quality.

Meh

It's a really basic kit with way too much thread and way too low quality of needles. The scissors are garbage and the thimble is garbage. The needles are mediocre and the threads are fine. Also includes a paper rule, so that's nice if you want a paper ruler.
