A little difficult to install

The kit worked very well. in 7-degree weather. But I had to unscrew the refrigerator and pull it out of its place, to reach the upper part of the coil so I could wrap it the way the instructions indicated. Have to have patience and be handy with your hands

Hope It Works

The back of my RV absorption fridge (Norcold N8X) only vaguely looked like the installation instructions that came with the kit. Had to remove 11 screws and detach the gas fittings so I could push the fridge out far enough to work on it. Not something that I wanted to do, but I need to be able to use the RV freezer when its below freezing outside. Actually when it is below freezing outside, it is possible to turn off the absorption fridge, empty the freezer and still use the refrigerator portion of the unit because it is exposed to the outside air on its backside. I have remote thermometers that help a lot to let me know what is going on inside the unit.

Got to have

Got a new fridge so while it was out i did this upgrade..I used to put a heater in the chimney. Hopefully this winter I won't have the need.. on the down side the instructions are useless

Worked like a charm

Installed it after finding the Norcold fridge not working in 25 degree weather. Forrest River said this is all seasons and temperatures and sure enough the fridge needs this…

Kind of pricey for what you get.

I have been camping in near zero weather this winter and this kit is what I needed to keep my frig working. I had to remove the mounting screws and slide the refrigerator out about 6-8 inches so I could get my hands up to the coil to clean and mount the heat element. Instructions were a little hard to understand at first, however after reading them several times it went well. It would have been easier to remove the frig from the cabinet completely but I did not have the help. It was kind of pricey for what you get in the kit, however it did seem to work well in ambient weather down to 5 deg f on this last trip.

Easier to install if fridge pulled out.

Works great. We use our rv all winter & I have had problems with the fridge freezing up between trips parked in the driveway with the heat turned way down. The fridge & freezer would kinda equalize around 30 deg. Now fridge stays around 39 & freezer around 5.

Instructions were wrong; Had to move fridge

I have not tested this in cold weather yet, but I did get it installed. First, the instructions are from 2012, and are wrong. Thetford customer service refused to even discuss this product with me, saying that it was a dealer-only product. I finally found the new instructions online (search for 634915B). I didn't have to *remove* the fridge, but I did have to *move* the fridge forward about 1or 2 inches, enough to get my arm up into the opening. That required removing screws on the front and back of the fridge, but not disconnecting anything. Overall, this was medium-hard: not for a beginner, but not requiring a dealer (if you have some strength to slide the fridge).

Worth the money

This kit has allowed us to continue to use our refrigerator in ambient temperatures as low as zero degrees. The instructions were missing but with one call to Thetford/Norco the issue was solved.
