Great buy, great price

This gate is exactly what I needed. I had a tri fold gate before this and that was terribly flimsy. At the time it was great because our puppy was so small and we taught him to respect the gate... Mostly! He never knocked it over, but did a bit of chewing damage. Now that his prey drive has really started to develop, he loses his marbles when he sees rabbits outside through the window. We need a new gate after that and this was it. Great price point, fairly sturdy.. not metal you understand but more than enough if your dog respects the boundaries that you set. The latch didn't quite line up so we shimmed it with some flat washers at the bottom hidnge (picture one) and a crush washer (all we had in the right size) for the top hinge (picture two) . Overall, great buy and great price and packaged very well. Might buy a second for other parts of the house.

Good for puppies & small to medium dogs

Looks good and provided much needed sanity and ‘corralling’ during the puppy phase. It took 2 months for our 30-40 lbs puppies to figure out they couple move it around. We rigged both ends to secure it in response. Then another 2 months to figure out how to move the latch. A larger dog would batter it. It has served its purpose as we have worked to train the puppies to stay out of certain spaces.

Don't expect this product to be well-made

When searching for a gate to keep our pugs out of the living room and that would look good, at least from a distance, we eventually chose this gate. We read all the negative reviews, so we knew what to expect, and sure enough the wood is split at the latch and the finish is damaged on one panel. My husband can fix anything and will glue and replace hardware as needed. I'm sure our pugs, if they tried, could get through or past it, but they won't be bothering it--it is really more a visual reminder. Given we bought it for appearance, it does a good job of looking good.

Mischief Minimizer

Works great for our purposes, but the latch is pretty cheap. We had to affix it to the wall as our dogs are just too gifted (aren't they all?) to leave it alone without an anchor. Most golden retrievers can simply push their way through without the added support. What I like: it looks so much classier than the cheap Evenflo ones, which we also have to resort to at times.

Good value; good cost-friendly option

Works well to keep our wanna-be-escape-cat from the front door, although it has to be set up just right or it gets a bit tipsy... as long as you have the space or arrangement to keep it zig-zagged - or make an angle or "curved" setup - it's great. One downside - the door section is definitely less sturdy, and the swinging door piece itself isn't the strongest - the way it's attached or the latching mechanism. I know I'll have to make some repairs on this part - likely swapping out the hinges for something stronger.

I chose to get this gate even though there were no reviews yet. It came well packaged and there was no assembly. They call it an espresso finish but it looks like a dark cherry that goes well with my other cherry furniture. Of course that just may be what 'espresso' means. It is a sturdy, freestanding gate with door that easily latches and unlatches. The only negative is that you'll want to put little furniture pads on the bottom sections of gate if you're placing it on hardwood floors (or any other scratchable surface). It wasn't a big deal for me as I already had a pack of small, dark brown pads that worked perfectly.

MUST BE SECURED TO BE FUNCTIONAL

The gate came with one broken slat and I decided to just glue it and push on. With a new puppy in the house I needed it now, now, now. Overall the quality is good and the finish is nice. I secured it to the opening with L brackets and the my laminate floor as well. Any puppy that jumps up on it will surely push it over if its not secured some way.

HOLD!...... HOOOOOOLLLLDDD!

The wood is VERY high quality. The joints however may need some reinforcement after a couple months with more energetic and persistent animals. (like my bunny rabbit) but slap some wood glue back in those babies and clamp them back and this thing will stay sturdy for years. I wanted to keep it stationary because my rabbit shakes it with her mouth. It took me 15 minutes to drill through the darn the thing to fasten it to the wall, the wood is from a very hard species of tree.

Works well & looks great

Purchased this to keep our new pups off our stairs and it's great. We can easily enter and exit, easily store and move this gate and it matches our decor. I likely won't use another mounted gate again.

Beautiful but.... Already broken!!

Love this gate looks so stylish.. but only had it a little over a month and the latch brick in my hand.. wish I could exchange it but just missed the cutoff..
