Easy to use

Looks can be deceiving as in the advertised photo showing a big onion blossom display, It's easy to use, unfortunately it is way too small, it's made for a small onion not bigger than 3" in diameter, it won't even fit a medium size onion as you can see in the photo and definitely not a big onion which is the size I use for the "Onion Blossom Appetizer" for the family and or friends, therefore it's useless to me for the purpose I bought it in the first place, I guess I'll continue doing it by hand and I'll use this onion blossom maker for a single person if I ever need it.

Great BUT...

I like the fact this was inexpensive, fool-proof (mostly) and was able to help me make something for my family that we love at restaurants. My only 2 complaints may be minor to some but are what caused me not to rate a 5. 1) Shipping cost vs. cost of product are insane. If you can source locally, way better off. For something that came in a box no larger than a softball and weighs less than a pound the shipping was more than the product. Now you are all say, why did you but it then? Well I had 2 other items with supersaver and a gift certificate that covered almost the entire purchase. 2) This is the surprise. The picture really does not do justice to how small this is. I assumed I could use a medium size vidallia onion but even a small one needed trimming and the resulting finished product MUCH smaller than what is in restaurants. Don't get me wrong, we had fun and it tasted great with one of their included recipes. If it would have been larger, it would have been a five.

Not compatible with most onions.

This item is non flexible (the arms don't bend), so it's impossible to fit most onions in it. Don't waste your money.

Bang for your buck if you don't mind smaller onions.

For what it cost this is a fine cooking tool. However as many have stated it is small. You better get an onion smaller than a baseball maybe even smaller than a tennis ball to use this. Does it work? Yes, shortly it works great just limited to smaller onions. Since its rarely used its worth the cost compared to kits 3x4 times mores money. Keep in mind not everyone has a very large fryers so this may be ideal for many. Pros: Solid construction Made cutting very easy Came with core cutter Very inexpensive Cons: Somewhat small so onions must be small If large onion is used it may get stuck in there as its almost like a crab trap closing in near the top
