Great mattress but needs a remote

This mattress should get five stars in all categories, but I took one star off because in 2023, with all of modern technology in front of us, and at a $1200 price point, there is no reason for this thing not to have a remote of some sort, be it wired to the control box, wireless, or an app in order for the person actually in the bed to be able to control the settings. When I wake up at three in the morning and I can't sleep and I want to sit up and read my book, in order to set the mattress to not bottom out, I have to wake up my husband and ask him to fix it for me. That's ridiculous, and I won't do that. So I took off Star for comfort and convenience. Because that is neither comfortable nor convenient. Aside from that, this mattress is everything I could ask for.

Excellent for pressure wounds.

After spending 3 months in hospital and rehab center, wound care specialists would not let my mom come home until we ordered this mattress. Better than anything she had in rehab/ hospital, those are only about 2 inches thick. This is a full 7-8 inch thick mattress. Heavy, but got it on the bed frame myself. Fully inflated in about 3 hours. It had to be ready when transport brought her home. This was a stage 4 wound, part of tailbone was exposed. Every wound nurse that came to the home to maintain the wound vac therapy remarked that this was an excellent mattress. After 6 months if a wound could be downgraded they said mom's wound came down to a 1-2 stage, and tailbone was no longer exposed. The control panel stays at the patients weight setting even when the power came back on. It does beep and red light to alert you, soon as electricity came back on it stopped beeping and re- inflated fully, only lost small amount of air for 15 min. outage. It has the red CPR belt in case paramedics need it. It is strong too, a medic stood on it a few seconds to get her on the gurney and take her out. Regular twin size fitted sheets fit good. It is fully waterproof vinyl cover that we wiped down with bath cleaner on a rag when mom was in hospital before coming back. She was unable to move herself, so this mattress did flex with the semi automatic bed frame to raise her head up completely. We used stuffer pillows too, to get her on her side. We could push down and change her incontinence pads from the front without disturbing her and mattress can take it, very strong. It quietly shifts the pressure about every 8 min, only faint sound of air, nothing that scared her. I have nothing bad to say. It arrived in 3 days with prime shipping.

different response

Well after fighting with this for two weeks Amazon just agreed to help me so perhaps the bed is much less of a risk than I thought. The bed has really helped my mother and she finds it very comfortable. It was just super frustrating to spend so much time trying to get it fixed

Good air mattress, sticky mattress cover

Minus 1 star because the cover that comes with the mattress is sticky which makes sliding/repositioning person difficult and inadequate. Any suggestions to remedy this feature of the mattress would be appreciated. 8/26/22 Update: The air channel under the tailbone does not hold air. The air pump cannot remain in static mode for long. Don’t buy this mattress.

BROKE AFTER A MONTH-BUT SELLER HELPFUL

The mattress itself is awesome! My dad cannot reposition himself and has an issue with pressure wounds. This mattress is perfect and keeps just the right pressure, or lack there of, all over his body. It also keeps him cool because there are middle cells that have air holes. (You need special sheets and underpads to take advantage of this). This mattress is ideal if you cannot move or are prone to pressure wounds. HOWEVER, it stopped working after one month. It’s inflated, but the alternating pressure does not work. The loss air loss doesn’t work either. It’s just an air mattress that smushes around when you move on it. In fact, the area where the seating is, bottoms out. I don’t think that function is working either. It’s bad, really bad. And my dad has pressure wounds and I just let the hospice go, hence buying the bed, tables, mattress, etc. (tho I wanted a better mattress than Medicare provides). There is no number to call. You have to go to the website and email them. I can only pray that I hear back, SOON. My life is consumed with taking care of my father, by myself. And a lot is going on, I don’t need this mattress blowing up on me too. ***UPDATE*** The seller gave me the number to call, so I called. I now have a new pump being shipped out 2-day air. ***UPDATE #2!*** So, Drive never sent the pump, after TWICE calling them and their saying they would send it! At this point I am suspecting the company to be a big sham, that once you buy something from them, you’re done and on your own. Thank m getting ready to contact BBB. However, I bought this from this seller on Amazon so I don’t know how far I will get. I believe the seller needs to be responsible for getting me a new pump, as it broke within 60 days of purchase. Instead, I’m left with haggling and spending A LOT of time on hold with Drive Medical. I’m waiting to hear back from the seller and I will update my review. Right now my father is laying on a hard bumpy mattress that is worse than the mattresses that Medicare provides for free. So I’m about to request one of those again. I don’t know if it would even help to buy this directly from Drive, but after this experience, I will NEVER purchase amp get product from that company if there’s any chance I might have to call for support.

Easy set-up, comfortable mattress

Gave only 4 stars because we have not had it long enough to know how it will affect my husband's nascent pressure sores. I wanted to add to reviews that it is super-easy to set up. I am awful at anything requiring mechanical talents but am having to learn how to do these sorts of things. I feared setting this up, but instructions were clear and easy to follow and set up was very easy too. I didn't use the quick fill valve, so it took a bit of time to totally inflate, but my husband finds it more comfortable than the foam mattress that came with the hospital bed we use. He also has less tendency to slide downwards on it. Keeping fingers crossed that his pressure sores improve as we use this.
