A modified installation

Initial opinion upon opening the box: this is a good, sturdy medicine cabinet. Because our location in the master bath is on an outside wall, we couldn't install flush due to nails from siding protruding through the sheeting. Also, fully flush would have eliminated all the insulation. So, we bought the units (2 of them) with the idea of surface mounting, but I was not pleased with that setup. The units are almost 5" deep, and that would have created issues with the wall mounted lights above the cabinets. The solution was to make a simply frame about 1" thick to prevent the cabinet from mounting too deep. This also allowed some insulation between the back of the cabinet and the outside of the house. The frame is behind the cabinet flange, and is held in place with a few dabs of caulk on the wall before pressing the cabinet into the recess. New screw holes had to be drilled, as the existing ones were too shallow for the way I installed them. They work great! The lights over the cabinets work fine, no shadows from a cabinet sticking out too far. The only reason I rated the cabinet a 4 is because one of the two shelves in one cabinet was shattered when we opened the shelve packing to install them. It was quite strange: one shelf broken into hundreds of pieces as if it had been exposed to sudden temp changes, yet the shelf wrapped with it was fine. Anyway, other than a shattered shelf, we're pleased with our purchase. The bath is a work in progress, so the frame around the cabinet isn't painted yet, but I included the pic to maybe help with my rather poor explanation of how we mounted the cabinet. Update 4-07-23: we contacted Kohler about the broken shelf, and they sent us a new shelf, no charge! So, I updated our rating from 4 to 5 stars due to Kohler's outstanding customer service.

Nice medicine cabinet

Bit painful to set up and wish it had the ‘slow close’ feature on the door, but otherwise great! Tried buying ‘like new’ at first which came broken unfortunately, so i returned it. Luckily reordering new arrived undamaged as in pic.

Big, Beautiful and heavy duty

This is a HUGE medicine cabinet. It is well built, heavy duty and beautiful. Mirror on insides , outside and sides with glass shelving. It comes with 2 adhesive mirror strips to put on the sides so that it gives you a look of mirror on front and sides. If you are putting it in the wall you don't need to add them. We hung it up on the wall instead of cutting into the wall. I was concerned how big it was when we took it out of the box because our bathroom is so small but it turned out fine. I would highly recommend this Kohler medicine cabinet if you are in the market for one.

Not a fan

Although this says wall mount the brackets to hang this at the top are sketchy . They don’t fasten to the actual mirror they just clip on . We reinforced with our own stuff . Not impressed , def disappointing .

Nice cabinet, but arrived broken.

We liked the style and overall quality of this cabinet but had 2 problems. First, it cut my hand trying to unpack it because it was broken in shipping. Second, we realized it was too deep to surface mount over our sink.

Large and beautiful

If you are looking for a cabinet that is spacious and classy looking then look no further. We have it mounted on the wall and it looks great with the mirrored sides, in fact the whole thing is mirrored even the inside. It appears to be good quality as well. I couldn't ask for more and would recommend this product.

I looked for a very long time for a mirror. I love the elegance of this medicine cabinet/mirror. My contractor installed so did not have to install myself, when placed in the drywall is quite lovely and just the right size. Arrived quickly nd well packed.
