Good Value

The pastels are soft pastels more than likely when they arrive you will have some broken. I had two broken which was no big deal since they were exactly in the middle. As the description describes they are 99% chalk, they act like that is a good thing. The higher end pastels have more pigment than these which is why they cost more. They break up faster when you push down on the page than high end ones as well because as you try to put more pigment down instead you get more chalk. You don't want more chalk on your painting you want more pigment. CONS: Blending: As for blending it can blend as does all soft chalk just not as well as for example Rembrandt brand. Rembrandt doesn't break up as easy has bolder colors and seems like less chalk more pigment. But that is a 3 x price difference. Bold Colors: The colors are not as bold as high end brands because of the lack of pigment. As the term Pastel colors comes to mind. Rather than bright bold reds, greens, extra. Only a few colors out of the 48, one yellow and pink seem to have any boldness. Maybe those two good chalks were mistakes at the factory they put more pigment in resulting in two good ones. Going over the top of another color: Somewhat more difficult as well. PRO Price: Amount of Colors: 48 Two Whites, Two Blacks: The great thing about it was there are 48 colors and they give you two white and two black the colors that you need two of you get. I may even say three white. White is so important only way you can lighten besides taking it off. Size of Stick: The stick size is decent if it was 1/2 the length in size with more pigment that would be better because you have to push chalk to get the pigment. Overall I probably buy them again. The price is right they blend well enough. The pigment is not bold but workable. Though I must admit if they are almost at the brink with pigment if they change this in any way worse with the stick I wouldn't buy them again. There are a few worse brands in this price range with less chalk in the box.

good for what we used it for

my sister and I wanted to make chalk art on our driveway at the start of quarantine and regular sidewalk chalk simply wasn'y cutting it! my sister's a young artist and she recommended we get some soft pastels since they have more pigment and are simply brighter and superior. i don't know whether these pastels are good enough for their actual intended purpose, but for what we used it for, it was fantastic! each individual pastel was skinny and ran out quickly but we were able to use different shades strategically to be able to make giant driveway chalk art.

Vibrant colors, great for blending!

I recently got into chalk art and these are my first chalk pastels. The colors are so vibrant and really bring my chalk drawings to life! I usually use Crayola sidewalk chalk for my base, then use these chalk pastels to bring in the details. Loving them so far, and the price is great!

Perfect for washes.

These are perfect for making your own panel washes and realistic dirt and smoke soot for either plastic models or rc aircraft which is what I use them for. Cost a lot less than the pre made washes that are out there. If your wondering how, just check out utube and look under panel washes, there are a couple out of the UK that are really good, easy to find.

Beautiful colors

Colors are beautiful and blend well together. I use these when I need to add color to my woodburning projects and these make it stand out nicely. I recommend this product

Beautiful colors

These have been so fun and vibrant! They can break easily but they are chalk. They don't break much easier than the Crayola chalk we have and it's not a deal breaker.
