Well constructed, lifetime guarantee, K&N brand reputation

I am a long-time user of K&N filters in my cars so knowing the outstanding quality of their automotive products, it was a no-brainer to buy a K&N HVAC filter. My old electrostatic filter also had a lifetime guarantee, but for some reason it began to emit a constant clicking sound which apparently was caused by a constant static discharge. The opening in the HVAC return duct is 18" x 30". The K&N filter is approximately 1/2" short in both dimensions, so it lay loose in the housing, unlike my old electrostatic filter which was a perfect press fit into the 18" x 30" opening. I had a roll of 1/2" tape-backed open cell foam door weatherstripping, so I snipped a few 1" pieces and taped them on to all 4 edges of the K&N filter which now allows it to fit snugly in the return duct housing. Because the sides of the K&N filter are made of plastic, if the foam weather stripping loses its elasticity, it should be no problem to peel them off and replace them with new foam strips. The K&N filter requires periodic cleaning using their K&N branded HVAC cleaner which I purchased. The chemical agents in this cleaner are very similar to the K&N cleaner for their car engine air filters, perhaps more diluted in strength as engine compartments are far dirtier and contaminated with oil-based pollutants. I haven't had the K&N HVAC filter long enough to clean it, but that shouldn't be a problem. From what I've read, a day or two is required to allow the filter to fully dry after cleaning with water and a cleaning agent. It's a good idea to have a 2nd filter handy when the K&N filter is drying out. I kept my old electrostatic filter expressly for that purpose. Folks that don't have a 2nd filter might consider buying 2 K&N filters and rotate and clean them every 2 months. I'm happy with the purchase. We'll see over time if this is truly a product that lasts a lifetime.

Fits well and very sturdy

The filter feels very heavy duty. Haven’t had it long enough to go through the cleaning process. I am pretty sure my a/c actually said thank you after the filter change.

A well made washable air filter.

I've used K&N filters for years on my vehicles and farm tractors. This was the first home washable filter I had seen. This saves the cost of replacements and meets my home air filtering needs.

Great product!

It works great and pretty cool they give you screws to use if filter does fit right. I used the screws to keep it from flopping up and down when heater kicks off and on. Very easy to clean as well. My air in the house smells fresh and clean. Great value for the money! Very sturdy and very well made!

Looks good and sturdy like a typical k&n filter. But it's not exactly 14x30 it's a hair smaller so it moves around a bit but it's no big deal it covers what it needs to

Great filter

They are really well built air filters. I bought 2 so while one is drying after washing I can use the other. Once that one needs cleaning just rotate out.
