Awesome ! Life Saver

I hesitated on buying this and now that I have it I regret not buying it sooner. This thing is amazing. You slightly lift and it takes over till you get about 65% of the way up then you assist it slightly again. Same thing coming down. The install wasn’t hard, but the directions were about useless. I had to look online which was helpful. Once I watched a video or two online the install was pretty easy. The hydraulic arm was a little difficult to close for the first time. I thought I was going to break it when trying to open for the first time. I bought a used on because at the time Amazon didn’t have any new ones. So I got a reduced price for a like new product. I was missing the two black plastic caps that cover the set screws, so I called Amazon and they couldn’t locate any replacement caps and returned $39 to me. I really appreciated that. This product is awesome and well worth the money. I highly recommend this for anyone that has Solid steps that flip up into your RV. No more struggling with the dead weight of the steps falling out at you when lowering the steps.

Doesn’t fit correctly

Installed steps first. Directions no where stated that if installing lift that the steps had to be modified, so had to remove and reinstall. If lift assist installed by directions then the step storage latch on right side will not latch ladder. Had to adapt and redrill all mounting brackets latch. Called lippert and advised that it was not a very professional looking install. There response was if it works it doesn’t matter how it looks. Very unprofessional attitude and they had no fix or any desire to make it correct. Very poor customer service

What a difference!

Our 4-step 5th wheel stairs are heavy and I didn't like that they swung out without any restriction. Got this lift assist and haven't regretted it for a second. The stairs come out half way and then stop. A small tug and they gently lower to the ground. I feel a lot safer now. Also my wife, a petite woman, feels much more comfortable lowering and raising the stairs. Ran into a problem during the install and called Customer Service. They were very helpful. The problem was my fault and quickly corrected. A "must have" as far as I'm concerned.

Great Product

This is a great product but... Buried in the small print, the description says this is only for "Generation 3 Triple & Quad steps". I only have double steps so I used Amazons convenient returns and sent it back for a refund. Thank you Amazon!

A great addition to Lippert Stairs

Very easy to install - took less than 45 minutes. Product is well made and very sturdy. Takes the work and potential back strain out of lifting the stairs, and aids the safety factor by slowing the stairs when lowering them.

Regretfully this won’t work on my steps

I read the description and thought the would fit my Solid Step stairs. Reading through the direction I quickly discovered they will not work on my steps. They are Sold Step XF. I was extremely upset finding this out for lifting and lowering the steps are almost impossible for me. I wish someone would make a generic option for all steps like the sold Steps that would work on my stairs. Or maybe Lippert would be so kind and make the lift assist for these new “premium” steps because these steps are going to crush me one day. I had to return these.

A real help to operate

Thought I could install, but after reading the directions decided to have my RV dealer install. Requires removing the steps which would be very difficult for one person due to the size and weight of the steps. RV dealer did an excellent job installing, but it did cost some dollars. In operation, it is very good. After unlocking the closed steps it does lower very slowly and easy to control. Lifting the steps to close can be done easily with one hand. A great help for seniors who don't always have the strength of a younger person.

Great product

Strut was frozen but we pried down on it with a long 2x4 and got it working and is really good now. Definitely worth the money.
