Good product. Can be used directly or thinned with some water for multiple coats on carvings with intricate details without filling in.

Worker perfect!

This primer worked perfect for my DIY hobby lobby project! Pictured above is half with primer, half without! Dries like it's shown in picture! LOVED how well it worked, can't wait to get painting! Happy Crafting Everyone!! Hope this helped!

Excellent product

I use this gesso for making hand painted greeting cards. First I spray a clear sealer, then use Liquitex gesso, then paint the background and then the roses. This gesso works very well!

Good coverage for wood.

I used this product to prime a 3 feet by 3 feet wooden table on which I was going to paint a complicated sunflower design. I used carbon paper to trace the outline of my design onto the table after I had covered the table with the white gesso and was going to paint inside the outlines using colored acrylic paint. Unfortunately, I was unable to complete my project because I had to vacate my apartment at a moment's notice. My roommate would have loved the finished product!

Gesso is used to prep a surface to receive acrylic paint. It has tiny bits of marble sand in an acrylic base so it adds texture to whatever surface the colored paint is applied to. That makes the paint stick better and on porous surfaces it keeps the paint on the surface instead of soaking into the canvas, wood, or paper. Liquitex is one of the top companies and first American company to make artist quality acrylic paints.

The last gesso (a different brand) I had ended up rotting in the heat while I was moving so I bought this as a replacement and haven't had any problems with it so far

Artist Quality Gesso Never Disappoints

This gesso is just what I was looking for. Originally I had bought a gesso from a craft brand I had never heard of, thinking to give it a try, BIG mistake. When I took the lid off the gesso, I thought I was looking at cottage cheese. The lumps of white gesso were separated from the liquid and refused to blend. Needless to say, I returned that gesso and bought Liquitex's gesso. Taking the seal off of my Liquitex gesso was a night and day difference from the previous gesso - thick, creamy paint that smoothly covered my canvases. I got exactly what I expected from a respected artist brand = quality. You get what you pay for but that being said, Liquitex's gesso had the same amount as the previous one I had ordered and $2 more. What an amazing deal and peace of mind, knowing that there's some quality control in place.

Covers in 1 coat as a great cover for raw canvas as photo 2 coats if you at using it an cover mistakes and have to restart
