Suggest age evaluation

This was a gift to our 8 year old grandson. He had a real interest in learning to throw pottery so it seemed like a fit. He may be a little young for it and I think even the package suggests an older age. It definitely required supervision for him and help setting up and reading instructions. A video link was included and very helpful. Nealy a must to review this video as it would have been trickier without it. It worked pretty well but our grandson was very patient and listened well to instructions. More attention deficit children would probably be difficult. I had some pottery experience so that helped a lot. The clay provided is tricky to work with but we managed. Read carefully. I think it's best for much older patient children. It did work though and he managed to turn a cute little vase.

A fun kit that can produce pretty good pottery

Tried this out with 9 year old daughter and took a few tries to get a decent result. Like other reviewers, getting the clay to stick to the platform is key. I even went so far as to mush the heck out of it to the surface so it was as stuck as can be. The clay it comes with isn't very fresh, so that doesn't help one bit. I'm sure this would be an overall much easier experience if you buy some fresh clay. Clay really needs an adult to knead it and you should definitely add water to get it the right consistency so it doesn't just crack apart when turning it. Aside from that, easy to use, directions are decent, assembly a snap. Great gift overall.

I definitely recommend

My 7 year old daughter has wanted to try her hand at a pottery wheel so thats what we did for Christmas. I was a little worried that the motor wouldn't be very strong and that it wouldnt be the best quality but I'm impressed. It has two speeds, guide pieces to help little hands find the center and open the top of the pot, and works really well. When I opened it, I thought t was a bit small but it turned out to be perfect for her. Even my larger hands were able to get creative with it. This is great for young kids wanting to try something new and has a lot of potential for a lot of play. I do suggest that you buy extra clay because there are only a few pots worth included.

Pottery wheel

Doesn't work very well...or at all. And the clay it came with was so hard! Disappointed, as this was a gift for my daughter that I thought she could really enjoy!

Uses this once and it would not turn back on. Completely dead. UPDATE **** customer service reached out to me and sent me a new one, so awesome customer service. Will update again once the product works more than once.

Un cadeau d’anniversaire a ma fille autiste de 8 ans qui désirait de tout cœur avoir une table tournante pour faire de la poterie. Présentement cela est tellement tellement bruyant et impossible a faire quoi que ce soi. Je suis une sur consommatrice et je NE RECOMMANDE PAS.

Best gift

Definitely need a little adult help starting out but my 8 year old and even 4.5 yr old really enjoyed this set. After lots of research (I didn’t want a cheap hunk of junk) and this was the best one and most recommended on many sites and reviews despite the higher price, but Amazon was the cheapest by far! Don’t hesitate, the kids will love it! Good quality wheel and well made, comes with shaping tools that are easily for small hands to use and it’s easy cleaning.

Easy to use

The air dry clay that comes with the kit is difficult to use on the wheel. Recommend using actual clay and then the results are more to expectations. Fun for school to introduce students to the wheel. Easy to pack and transport, good video tutorials to watch.

Bought for our 9 year old daughter for Christmas. Did have to watch a YouTube video to set up. After set up was pretty simple to use. Perfect for beginners.
