See Real Photo of Norpro 1715 Nylon Potato Masher

First, the drawing for this product is incorrect. Please see my added photos of the one I bought from this Amazon offering. My photos exactly match the manufactured Norpro Model 1715 which is offered. Second, I love this masher because of the design. It performes the same as the wavy metal masher and can be used for potatos with or without skins. I had tried the mashers with medium sized round holes and oblong holes and they do not easily mash potatoes and are useless on potatoes with skins. The Norpro 1715 is a perfect design for mashing. Third, the only reason I rated it 4 stars is because there was a small amount of nylon flashing (from molding) that I hit lightly with fine sandpaper to make it totally scratch free. It was absolutely worth the price and took about 10 seconds to do this and wash it before use. I have used it several times already and am really pleased. I would buy this product again and recommend it to others.

A great masher!

I don't just use this masher for potatoes!! Well, it is great for potatoes, but... I make a really delicious guacamole with it. Get soft avocados, lime juice, cilantro, fine-chopped red onion, salsa and/or a little diced tomato, some spices, throw it all in the bowl and mash away to the consistency that you like. Yum! I wash my masher on the top shelf of the dishwasher and it comes out fine. A little tricky in the drawer, since it gets stuck if anything is under it, but I love this tool. I have one of the metal ones where the like just goes back and forth, but this black nylon is waaaaay better. The pattern on the masher is perfect for guacamole and potatoes, and probably other mash-worthy recipes. I have seen other patterns and styles that I don't like, but this one is the best. In fact, I had another one like it, which got lost, and I had to find this specific style to replace it. It's useful, durable, and helpful!!

Better than my stainless steel masher

I bought the black plastic masher which might be different than item shown; it mashes through potatoes, squashes, other veggies, and ground meats more easily and quickly than the steel wavy masher I have been using my entire life. (The plastic masher's edges are tapered slightly and resemble meat claws, so are good to use on ground meat.) It's ergonomic, thanks to the plastic circular guard between the handle and masher- it allows the user to use more force and mash the food faster without your hand slipping. I have been experiencing some pain and numbness in my arms and hands due to overuse injuries, and have had to ask my son to mash potatoes the past few months, but with the Grip EZ masher, the task was painless, quick and easy, and I've been doing it myself since then. I love that I can use this on my nonstick cookware. It seems to clean more easily than my metal masher. I'm really happy I bought this item.

Bean masher- Why didn't I get this sooner?

This masher is so much faster and better at mashing beans. All summer, every week, I make my version of egg salad, or tuna salad, but with beans. Beans are so healthy for us and I use 4 cans of beans and a lot of tumeric, which is also good --like an internal antiseptic for cleansing. With my old stainless steel flat masher with circular holes it took forever to mash the beans. This tool works so much better and I get done in half to time. It is also dishwasher safe. Love it! TIP: when you work with canned beans, always drain the can of beans in a colander and keep rinsing the beans with cold water until there is no more frothy water and it rinses clear. This removes a lot of the gas from the canned beans and makes them easier to digest.

Arrived chipped

My potato musher arrived chipped, because it was packed with other items. I sent it back. I don't thing it is strong enough. Also I don't thing it is made by Norpro. The only name Norpro listed on piece of printed paper, which is taped to it.

It works, but...

This utensil is too big to fit in my kitchen cabinet drawers. Mine are fairly shallow, and while I can store all my other spoons, ladles, spatulas, etc., this masher has to be put elsewhere. I have to keep it in the one deeper drawer where I store all of my plastic food bags. Annoying not to have it handy with the rest of the utensils. Also, I was surprised that it seemed a little bendy when you mash food with it. I wouldn't get too vigorous with the mashing or it seems like it could break. It does a fine job on nice soft potatoes, but I also like to use a masher on ground beef to get a finer texture as it cooks, and I've been hesitant to try that with this plastic tool. I think I prefer my metal masher with the squiggle shape for that. If/when the Grip-Ez ever breaks, I wouldn't buy another one.

Best So Far

This is the Best Potato Masher for me so far. I've been thru lots of others that bit the dust much sooner than this one did. It even outlasted a metal masher and other ones that I had bought, that I had thought were the same one as they were very similar looking to this one, but never could hold up to this one. You see when I lost this one I tried to find another one, but they were not the one. I finally found the ONE!! The Real ONE!! It is just The Same as The ONE and ONLY Best Potato Masher that I have ever had. When you finally find that perfect masher, you will look high and low till you get it again, cuz nothin else comes close and nothin else will do.
