Easy to install. Looks good. I installed two of these about a foot apart behind my wife and I’s chairs. They are unobtrusive and fit nicely in the carpet.

Adjustable depth accomodates various flooring material; helpful instructions included!

SUMMARY: A great option for carpeted (or other surface material) floors. Highly recommended! DETAILS: Bought this as "Used, Like New" -- the item was actually new, but the box was used and didn't match the contents. Installed to provide power to some new power recliners. Comes complete with box, duplex electrical outlet, gasket, and of course the cover. I selected the Stainless Steel version as the others are finished, not solid and was concerned about scratching. A template is provided, but I used (and recommend) the electrical box as a guide to cut through the carpet or other surface material from above, drill out the four corners, then use a sabre saw and/or spiral zip saw to cut out a rectangular opening (from below, if possible), then use either of the tools to expand the cutout to include the areas for the tabs and adjustments. If you make the hole too large, you'll be challenged to screw down the fixture. Then adjust the depth (with a power screw driver) based on the depth recommendation provided in the helpful instructions (or trial and error if you prefer), wire, and install the cover. A 1-hour install tops, depending on your below-floor access.

Not stainless!

The description says the product has a stainless cover plate, and even the box says stainless. However, it is definitely not stainless, it is painted aluminum, which is inferior when you want something that is scratch resistant for being on the floor. The paint on the aluminum will scuff easily and the aluminum underneath will be exposed, which is a different color than the paint. It might not be a big deal if it is hidden out of foot or chair traffic, but if it's under a table and likely to be stepped on, it will easily show wear (unlike an actual stainless plate). To confuse matters, the product description has pictures of both the stainless and the painted aluminum plates, so I was really hoping the stainless ones would arrive since that's what the description says. I ordered 5 of them and had to return them all. I work in metal fabrication and work with stainless and aluminum every day, so I know the difference. If you don't care about the plate finish, I'm sure they are a fine product. They are UL listed and CSA approved.
