Worth it
I ordered these gaiters fully expecting to not be impressed. Well, these things rock! My trail shoes aren’t Gore Tex but with these gaiters my feet have stayed 90% dryer on my trail runs. Since getting these in the mail, all my runs have been in mud or snow. The gaiters sit perfectly snug on my Salmon trail shoes and have never budged. Other reviewers complained that the gaiters needed to be worn only with shoes that had a heel. Not sure why they had issues. I snug these on, there is elasticity in the material, so I can stretch them far enough that they cover where they need to and then they stay put. But maybe I haven’t experienced fitting issues because I paired Salomon gaiters with Salomon trail shoes. I included a picture of what my shoe looks like without the gaiter so you can see that my shoe doesn’t have a heel on it. I wear a women’s 6.5 and ordered size small gaiters. So if you have Salomon’s running shoes then I absolutely recommend these gaiters for trail runners, especially if you have a dog running buddy kicking debris into your shoes.

Need to have a boot heel!
I bought these for day hiking in the Northeast. I spend a lot of time on the Appalachian Trail, Adirondacks and other rocky trails in the area. I bought these to keep small rocks from getting into my boots and constantly having to empty them. I've used a few different pairs of low gaiters and have had a hard time finding something that can hold up to the trails I'm on. My biggest disappointment were the OR Ferrosi Hybrid Gaiters whose strap broke only a few miles up Mt. Marcy. These gaiters are very well made and will hold up to a pounding. The problem I have is my boots don't have a pronounced heel so the strap WILL NOT stay in place. I have a pair of Solomon X-Crest so I thought maybe this would be a good pair but it just isn't. They do not work with my Hooka Speedgoats and I haven't tried them with my North Face Ultra 110 but I'm not hopeful. Unless you have a boot with a heel DO NOT BUY THESE! Otherwise I think they'll suit your needs.

Worked Perfectly!
These gaiters worked perfectly straight out of the gait. The first time on the trail and not a single stone, rock, or pebble got in my shoes. It was blissful. They’re really comfortable too. I didn’t notice them after putting them on.

Professional dog hiker approved!
The media could not be loaded. I take packs of dogs off leash hiking on trails around the Salt Lake valley every day. When you have a pack of 5-8 dogs swarming your legs while hiking, you end up with LOTS of debris in your boots/shoes. I have heavy duty gaiters for winter hiking, but for summer and my trail running shoes, I wanted something lower profile and cooler. These work perfectly with my Salomon XA Wild trail running shoes. Whatever shoe you have, they definitely need to have at least a minimal indentation under the arch so the silicone band that goes underneath won't snag on everything and high center your feet. These are also best suited for mid to low shoes and not full height hiking boots. Also these have a hard time stretching over trail running shoes that have really thick EVA foam soles like Hoka One Ones. These have kept every last bit of trail dust and pebbles and sticks and mud out of my shoes while hiking with the dogs. I recommend these for hiking or trail running in dry conditions only as water will stretch them out and make them sag. I wear size 8.5 shoes and the size 4.5-7 works well for me. I can definitely recommend for the right shoes and the right conditions!

Works perfect for Chainsawing
I am so glad I found these. It is finally an answer to chainsawing and getting a ton of wood chips stuck and embedded into my socks. Love it! I wear an 11.5 shoe and the size L fit perfectly.

Don’t make the assumption I did that these will fit ANY shoe not just Salomon’s.
I read the good and bad reviews and took a shot on these because I like wearing gaiters when trail running to keep debris out of my shoe and I needed a new pair because I finally wore through my UD gaiters so tried these. My conclusion is I think unlike other brand gaiters that are made for any shoe these are made specifically for Salomon shoes hence the name. In after thought this makes sense to have a gaiter for their shoe. Besides, other brands that make gaiters, at least for what I’ve seen mostly make all types of gear or clothing but are not a shoe company. In any case, you could maybe get these to work short term on any shoe that’s not Salomon but with alot of fussing around with them and even then it’s super questionable. I eventually got them to stay on a pair of Altras but the strap didn’t fit in between the lugs so it would pretty much be exposed to strapping every rock and root so likely won’t hold up for long. I used these on a dirt trail with a lot of sand so the strap being stepped on wasn’t a big issue but they also did no good in keeping dirt out since it got through the mesh of my shoes anyway. Disappointed because Salomon shoes are too narrow for me so unless these miraculously fit some other shoe I eventually get (doubtful), I’ll probably never use them or use them knowing that the strap is going to get destroyed in short order on a typical trail. Oh well, at least I got them used.

Fitment is questionable.
I bought these for a recent hike that we knew would have lots of sticker bushes and other things that would try to bite my ankles/feet etc. They worked well, they kept most of the crap out of my shoe, but they didn't seem to fit all that well, the overlap really didn't connect entirely, so I had lil wings in the front of my shoes. Would have preferred they fit like the image.

Great gaiters - sizing is for men
These gaiters are great. They stay in place & are comfortable, even in really hot weather. I purchased a size 7.5-9 since I wear a woman’s size 9. I can’t get them tight enough to prevent pebbles and sand from getting in my shoes. If they just made the Velcro a little longer, they could be tightened. Alternatively they can fix the listing to clarify.

Tight
Very tight to fit on but managed to do it eventually I’m size 10 half in salomon speedcross 6 and went for the medium. Maybe should of gone for the large

Great item, I love the Salomon brand
Great item, I love the Salomon brand. All my Salomon trainers fit perfect and I actually needed these to go with my Inov8's which I had bought before discovering Salomon Speedcross. Inov8s have a much lower back than the Salomons and that just didn't fit me, and I needed something to stop my foot slipping out of the shoe. I didn't like the look of the Inov8 gaiters, didn't look sturdy enough, so I opted for these. I had decided because of my love for my Speedcross that for obstacle races I would use the Inov8s, because if I was destined to lose a shoe, I would rather it be one of them and not a Salomons. I tried them out, combined with my Inov8s on a hour trail run, and they worked perfect. Shoe stayed put and no debris got in. Then for the big test, I took a leap of faith and went straight on to do a 13k obstacle race (Major Series North). I couldn't have been more happier, shoes stayed on, even through knee deep mud which would have easily sucked off a shoe or two (which did actually happen to those poor gaiterless souls). They stayed fastened and in place, No chaffing and I had no trouble with debris entering the shoes and felt confident the whole race. I would definitely recommend them.

easier to put on that usual gaiters
good for keeping debris/stones etc out of trainers, but too short to tuck w/proof trousers into easier to put on that usual gaiters

Trail shoe protection
Excellent gaiters preventing the worst of mud and water entering a crosstrail training shoe. Well designed and easy to use, the Salomon Trail Gaiters are a must for any serious off=road ultra runner. Happily fitting non-Salomon shoes these gaiters help ensure the trainer stays put in the worst mud. Sizing is accurate.

Very nice produce. But large is > 9
I bought the large ones for a size 9 and while they fit nicely around the (Salomon) shoe, they are just a bit too big around my skinny ankles. Otherwise, I wore them this morning for a park run. Easy to put on. You don't notice you're wearing them. And they do keep the water out when going through the deeper puddles on our course.
