Mid-level Quality - Not the Best

When I opened the plastic bag of my Truform 1913BL-L compression socks they really smelled like some kind of soapy-disinfectant. Usually when I buy socks they smell fresh and new without any odor. I washed them in lukewarm water by hand and found that the water in the washbasin turned completely black. These socks are 75% acrylic, 22% nylon and 3% spandex. The process of dying acrylic correctly takes a lot of expertise and Truform should have that expertise. Correctly dyed acrylic should be relatively colorfast so I have to fault them for not making a product that is colorfast. I purchased the 8-15 which is meant to only be light compression but I think that the quality of the compression is too low compared to other brands and during the day they did not stay at the top of my calf. I have purchased a different brand at a large big box "mart" store. Those have 55% polyester, 40% nylon and 5% spandex. I feel that overall the socks from the "mart" store offer better support and higher quality at a much lower price than the Truform socks. Also, the other brand smelled fresh and clean. The packaging on the brand from the "mart" store also shows 8-15 compression so they are similar. Since I recently purchased these Truform socks I can't speak for their durability but they do seem to be woven with good quality. After washing the Truform socks the chemical smell is gone so if yours smell on arrival, you may want to wash them before wearing them. Also, acrylic fiber is not really breathable so be aware that the Truform socks may be warm during the summer and that may be a benefit during the winter. I have to rate the Truform 1913BL-L socks as being average and I don't recommend purchasing them. I won't be buying another pair of these.

Comfortable!

I got the XL, as I have very muscular calf muscles! I am 76 and have a painful varicose vein right above my right ankle, really hard to find compression socks that help in the correct way! So far all have been to tight or could not get them over my heel, so tight! I am happy these and amazingly got them on, all the way to the knee, so far had them on for about 3 hours, They feel good, a bit tight, but okay! They actually feel as though I could wear these all day now! I will try them for a week and report back any untoward changes in my review!

Although not 5, it really is 4.5 not 4 stars product, as I rated. Unfortunately, 4.5 is not available and my rating is based on the user's issue not the product. I overlooked that the socks are 8-15 and not 15-20 as I thought I was buying. However, given the price and the fact that they are not that different from the regular socks (except the length) 5 stars would be too much.

Think before you buy. These are quite good, but be sure of the compression you want!

I bought a pair of these socks in a size that was on sale. I've bought compression socks before, and so I knew I needed the least tight (light) compression socks available. I think they were 8-15 mmHg. These were great. They fit well, and were easy to get on and off. I needed a second pair and decided to go up a notch to the medium compression. I should know by now, but they were OK, but generally tighter than I really needed. I think they were 15-20 mmHg. Be careful if you buy the medium compression, and be extra careful if you buy the high compression. The reason I gave middling marks on comfort and stretch is because I think all compression socks deserve that. But I recommend these and the light compression version (8-15 mmHg) if you can get away with that.

They work if you need just light compression

I already had the white crew socks. They were so comfortable for early mornings and evenings I got these. I have severe swelling from vascular insufficiency so I can not wear them all say. I also got men's x-large knee hi so they won't cut into my leg at the knee. These are what I hoped they would be. I have a lot of issues with my feet and toes. The high compression socks often make my toes ache. That is why I like these. I still get some compression but not the aching I get from my day time stronger compression. It is nice to have these.

these are wonderful if you have edema....

I have tried several brands of socks...i have swollen feet these are mild compression....easy to put on and take off...plus quality

This last pair are shorter than others I ordered

I got the exact same ones again, same size and compression rating but these don’t go as high as my previous ones. They feel at least an inch shorter and don’t stay up as well.

good fit but

Socks fit great. But after 3 days wear is showing on top of the foot. I will see how long they last. Otherwise I am satisfied for now.
