A little awkward

This item is usable for almost any small project soldering need, but it is awkward to use. In spite of its weighted base, it's a little top-heavy, and getting it adjust just-so can take a little time trying various combinations of the adjustments. Also, the wing nuts take up enough space to make it impractical for use in small spaces. In spite of all that, I've appreciated its usefulness on several projects.

This thing is a beast

Im new to soldering and got this to help, right away its a small box but weighs a lot, this little mini wire vice is crazy heavy, it is built insanely well. This is DEFINITELY worth the money, $16 for an absolute tank that will help a lot.

A little too light

I bought this for soldering my model railroad stuff. The clips hold well but it’s tough to tighten them to the point they don’t move. Also the base is light so it can tip over easily. I still use it, but if I had to do it over again I’d buy a heavier one with more stable arms.

Mostly what I need. It'll do.

The item arrived folded neatly and wrapped in bubble wrap in a surprisingly compact box. The magnifying glass had fingerprint smudges that required cleaning before use (honestly it felt a little gross and I cleaned the whole thing), after which it's mostly great. The toothed arms fold inward close enough to be able to hold a 1.5cm DnD mini, however they lack the strength to do cutting/shaving on the mini and remain stable. It should do just fine for painting, which is what I'll need the clamps for more, but 4 stars overall for the arrival of a dirty product, and the clamps could be slightly heavier duty.

An Extra Set of Hands is Always Helpful

In all fairness, I've only used this on one project, but it was very helpful. I used it to hold two wires while I soldered. Pretty good!!

This thing is great

I don't solder all the time, but I make cable assemblies from time to time. This is better than any helping hands tool I've used since the arms can be moved anywhere and they're very configurable. I'm sure it'll last a lifetime, otherwise I would buy it again. One minor complaint is that mine came in the manufacturer's box with just shipping labels and tape; I wish it came in an outer box because I plan to keep it in this box for storage.

Looks good but magnets are far to weak

The media could not be loaded. As a user of weller products for year all I can say is I’m disappointed with this one. The base is so smooth and the magnets so weak that one little nudge and everything slides all over like a hockey puck on an ice rink . The bendy arm are near impossible to bend in to the shape / angle you want and as soon as you let go they just about spring back to where they started . Even if you can get your work clipped in a position you like the arms are under so much tension it either bends the work or the magnet lifts . I tried using just 2 arms which although the clips and arms are easier to set your work up 2 magnets won’t hold anything . If you touch it with your finger tip the magnets just come off . So I’m sorry weller it’s a great looking bit of kit but the magnets are the biggest downfall they are just not strong enough and the whole product is not up to your normal standards

The media could not be loaded. Terrible product, magnets couldent hold a one pence coin. Awfully dissatisfied with this product. WELLER DO BETTER!!!!

Sieht super aus. Nur bei dem Versuch das Ding zu verwenden kommt die ganz große Ernüchterung. Die Klemmen sind absolut minderwertig. Die erste ist mir schon bei der ersten Benutzung zerfallen. Die Niete, die die Achse Bildet ist herausgefallen. Die Klemmen verbiegen sich sehr leicht. Die Magnete halten nicht auf der Platte. Die hochglänzende rote Lackierung der Platte ist zu glatt und die Magnethalter verdrehen sich, wenn man sie nur schräg ansieht. Ich habe den Lack und die Unterseite der Halter mit grobem Schleifpapier stumpf geschliffen. Nun rutscht nichts mehr. Als nächstes werde ich versuchen, die alten Klemmen von meiner dritten Hand anzubringen, die nun schon 30 Jahre halten. Wenn ich eine Alternative gefunden hätte, hätte ich das Produkt sofort zurück geschickt, aber ich kenne keine.

Falsche Werbeversprechen und unbrauchbar

Weller ist hier leider nur ein "Name", die Konstruktion ist nicht brauchbar. a) Die Klemmen sind billigster Art, sie lassen sich extrem leicht verbiegen. Das wird automatisch häufiger passieren, was dann in einer unbrauchbaren klemme endet. b) Die Magnete sind viel zu schwach. Ein Klemmenarm lässt sich bereits einfach mit dem kleinen Finger verschieben. Platinen kann man so höchstens zum Gucken, aber nicht zum Arbeiten (z.B. Löten oder entlöten), befestigen. c) Wer glaubt man könnte ja mehrere Arme verwenden, der irrt oder hat zuviel Zeit. Die Arme sind extrem unflexibel und bleiben auch nicht in der eingestellten Position. Am Ende des Arms ist die Klemme, welche an sich ja starr ist (starr sein sollte, hier verbiegt sie sich ja bei geringsten Gelastungen), welche leider auch noch extrem lang ist. Eine Kombinationsverwendung der Klemmen ist somit sehr aufwendig. d) Die Platte ist echt gut. Schwer und mit Gummifüßen. Es ist halt ne schwere Platte...
