It’s fine
It’s been about a month and the Wemo is fine. Not great, not bad, just fine. I have a pair of HomePods nearby and it hardly ever loses connection. The talkback is very good and I love that it pops up on my Apple TV’s. The face recognition is fine, not great. It does an okay job at recognizing animals, packages, and people. The notifications are pretty good. It does take about 10 seconds to start recording after it detects motion. Sometimes it tells me it detected motion and I see that a package has been delivered without video of it being dropped off. Delivery folks can be pretty quick, but it knows something happened and tells me fairly instantaneously. Video quality is fine and dynamic range is average. My porch lights are on all night, so I’m not sure about the night vision. I like that there’s no subscription fee and that it’s fairly secure and encrypted compared to other systems, that’s why I’ll settle for fine. It was fine enough for me to buy a second Wemo for another entrance. It’s expensive for only being fine, but it seems to be the best native HomeKit solution. I got it slightly discounted and would really have a hard time justifying the full retail price tag to some of the far superior competitors at lower prices. But apparently it’s encrypted unlike some of the others.

Needs more sensitive motion sensors if it’s possible with a firmware update
A more reliable firmware update is needed and over due by now since it is needed to be adjusted to be more sensitive to become more sensitive to motion.Might also be the isp is dropping the camera feed connection because of heavy network traffic. To get the best connection use the 1 channel of the 2.4 GHZ band and 20 MHZ width manually instead of auto scan band selection on the router because auto scan band selection will disconnect all devices. If your router supports IoT dedicated band turn this on and add the camera to HomeKit while your iPhone is connected to the IoT band. Make sure on your iPhone in the Wi-Fi settings you set auto-join Wi-Fi networks to off while you setup the camera to HomeKit if you’re setting up on the IoT band or else you’ll get an error The motion sensor on this camera only activates if it detects near by motion even though movement in the camera can be seen in the live stream. So it will not always actually film left to right or right to left movement unless the person is actually coming to the doorbell camera itself. The camera will always work if it likely knows the person is actually coming up to the camera. It’s a smart camera so even if you don’t trust it it will work as intended. Belkin says the camera has a hardware problem but I think a better firmware software update can fix it so I have a replacement and the second camera has the same issue. As long as the camera is always recording even an Apple homekit server side update in the Apple’s end can improve this cameras communication handshake issue. Some people also may have issues with the camera disconnecting after rebooting their router so don’t reboot your router so often. If you do reboot your router and the camera does not connect you may have to unscrew the camera and reset it with a pen for 1 to 2 seconds to connect it back to the Wi-Fi. If you still have problems with the camera disconnecting after sometime you may need to set the Wi-Fi channel manually in your router to a certain channel that’s not being used by your neighbors. Because when the Wi-Fi channels change because of overcrowding it will disconnect the camera and a reset with a pen on the camera for 1 to 2 seconds will need to be performed. You will need a good router with good coverage. If you have a Fios quantum gateway router those only do about 325 sq ft range so an upgraded router that has more coverage than that will be more reliable.

If you use Homekit, this is the doorbell for you
I was hesitant with the reviews but decided to pull the trigger on the Wemo doorbell when it was on sale because I primarily use Homekit for my Smart Home and figured I could return it if it didn't work out. So far, I have encountered none of the issues that have been described. It works flawlessly and seamlessly. It tells me when there is a package. It is quick with detection. And best of all it stores as Homekit Secure Video so i don't have to pay for a separate monthly plan for video storage (other than my iCloud account). I think where my experience is different from others is I have a very stable internet connection so maybe if your internet drops a lot, you have to do the reset a lot. So far I have not had to do a reset at all. So if you have good internet you have nothing to worry about and you will love this doorbell. I also live in Phoenix with a house that faces east and have not had any overheating issues. We'll see if that still holds when it gets really hot in July.

Works but not worth the price.
Previously had the CircleView Doorbell and there are certainly trade offs when moving to the Wemo. The video quality is noticeably worse, the motion recognition misses people walking by my door all the time, the night vision quality is almost unusable, and it’s more expensive than other options. It does work decently, it stays connected, doesn’t seem to overheat easily and seems less likely to have water intrusion like my CircleView doorbell did. Overall there are too many trade offs for the price of this unit. I’d rather take my chances with the Aqara G4 at half the price.

Subpar quality
The night vision is not that great without porch lights on unless, a person is very close to door. The motion detection does not notify when someone walks to the door unless they have a package for some reason it wall always detect a package, but not a person. I been have issues with Apple Music randomly playing on all tvs for no reason and haven’t found out how to fix it. Another is I noticed is the Picture in Picture feature that sometimes works. When someone press the doorbell. This feature is the real reason I bought the doorbell. On the other hand, the fisheye camera lens is helpful to see packages closer to the door, but not that great for distance. Lastly, the main feature does not work unless ur constantly reset the device. The Picture in Picture is the main reason I bought it but would be nice if it worked all the time. I’m the end, I would not recommend this product to anyone unless major updates are added to fix the notification and connection issues.
