For hard chesse only!

I purchased the grater with the hopes it would be like the ones used in Restaurants, however it does not have the drum required to grate soft cheese as well as hard cheese. Still, it seams well made, just something one should be aware of. If you look for a grater which does soft as well as hard cheese I recommend the "Boska Holland Monaco Romano"

Just what we were looking for

This grater is all stainless steel, as opposed to partly plastic – which is prone to breakage. I can grate fresh Parmesan cheese, straight onto my spaghetti :-) (among other things). Inexpensive enough that I don't feel that the fact that I don't do professional cooking makes it a waste!

Definitely not a keeper

I looked for a grater that would pulverize cheese as opposed to shredding it, since I am Italian and would use it mostly for Parmesan to put on pasta.So, I was attracted to this model because it seemed to have the right grating drum, and because of its all-metal construction (I currently also own a Microplane which is in plastic, and pieces began coming apart fairly soon). However, no luck to be had here. 1) The holes in the drum are too small - think nutmeg grater - to do a decent job with anything but rock-hard cheese. It gets clogged, and takes forever to achieve the smallest yield. 2) The drum rotation requires way more effort than it should. 3) The feed hole is too small (although it is in proportion with the item's low productivity) 4) The handle is uncomfortable and does not do a very good job at keeping the cheese pressed in place 5) Even though it's all-metal, the construction feels flimsy.
