A RIFTS style Disapointment

My favorite Pulp WW2 Miniatures game is Secrets of the Third Reich. A little complicated for folks, so we play Konflict 47 as it is the least boardgamey of the simpler rules. However the fluff in BOTH those games leaves a LOT to be desired. All the hipster Werewolves, Vampires, and Zombies aside... the fluff of Achtung! Cthulhu really focuses more on what Pulp WW2 should be about. You know, the Cthulhu Mythos, summoned by the Thule Society. So I really love the idea behind it, and was excited to get this product. Till I opened the cover. I had no plans to use this for the RPG. I got the Achtung RPG for its awesome fluff... it was tooled for FATE, not its own system, as that was what was available. Now I am getting a DUST cross over... but tooled to Savage Worlds. It really makes me glad I have not heavily invested in this RPG system. Unlike the good job GURPS does, this book followed along in the RIFTS tradition. Limited art. Incomplete lists of Units and Heros from the DUST miniatures/boardgame. Lots of "If you convert from our Achtung rulebook"... which begs the question if its their actual RPG rulebook, or the at least accessible FATE version. And "if you refer to the DUST Unit cards, you can make Investigator cards". So there is a lot of legwork for me as the GM for $35, just like RIFTs. Also cannot stress enough that I really like the DUST miniatures, and have quite a few. If you buy this plan to just see "Light Walker, Medium Walker, Heavy Walker" for the US and Krauts. So it was very incomplete on the DUST vehicle and hero fluff and pictures. DUST has a whole wave of supplements they could have pulled painted miniature pictures from. While means as a miniatures player this has minimal value. So it has some neat scenarios. It cleverly mashes the DUST and Achtung fluff. But RPG or Miniature player aside... its more of a conversion pamphlet than a book you look forward to pouring through.
