Does what it says
Great quality and works well.

Sharp and fast
Definitely sharp and easy to understand how to use. Large logs need a little filing down before use. I have only used on green logs so can't speak for dry logs. Shavings make great chicken bedding.

Works as it should but there is a learning curve
There is a learning curve. Hold on tightly in case of a bind up and the blades have to be set correctly or it will not cut the work piece

For beginners and pro's alike.
Excellent! I had to hurry up to try it so I put one blade on and used the Dewalt cordless for a min. I didn't do enough to hurt the drill, just enough to get a feel for the tool. Directions are clear as to how to set your blades and it would be quite easy to create a gauge. Screws fit fine and stayed tight (apparently a problem with the hobby (red) version. A drop of threadlock would fix that problem if it had happened. Directions for the tool and Plans are easy to read and straight forward. Most of us probably have experience and are simply looking for dimensions, all of which are given. This looks like a very good place for a beginner to start after they have mastered tools. 1/2" drills are highly aggressive as is this tool. It will want to kick and throw you around if you don't have a firm grip. Since the blades are adjustable you can nibble at the wood rather than taking giant bites. I think the problem some are having with their cuts is they are setting the blades too aggressively or trying to be too aggressive with the drill. Like a lathe or planer, taking giant bites out of un-rounded wood will only kick the tool back and gouge the wood. .

Works Great saved a ton of money.
This item worked great and is still working great. I used it to build log railings on the deck around our cabin and must have drilled over 300 ends. I did have to sharpen the blade but that is to be expected for the abuse I put it through. Cost to have the railings was quoted at $2,500.00 just for the kit and $1,000.00 to install I was able to do it all for $600.00 including the materials and this tool set. The best part is I can say I did it and take a little more pride in it when I sit out on the deck. Don't get me wrong there is labor involved a little more then anticipated but once you get the hang of this it goes a little better. I rated this a 4 because the hole bit didn't come with the kit as shown. However once I brought this to the attention of Amazon they discounted the set and credited my account. They also gave me the option of sending a replacement but I already bought a new bit.

Fun to use, accesory bit is trash.
This is fun to use if you have the money to buy all the other stuff you need like the vice, draw blade, small carving knife ( super rough tenons) and the countersink bit. However the forester bit this comes with is trash, dull within seconds trying to drill pine, and yes I bought the Milwaukee 1660-6 Drill it recommends. You are going to need an additional auger bit to make this work.

Worked great
I made some log rails and it worked great. I bought a 1/2 drive variable speed electric drill for this and you have to be careful because it'll rip your arm off when you hit a knot.

Well made and works well
The cutter, drill bit, blades and booklet were neatly packed. I put a micro bevel on the blades, honed them and installed as per instruction. I cut a test tenon on a log to get the feel of it. It cut beautiful shavings and the tenon fit snug in the hole drilled by the supplied drill bit. I cannot talk to the longevity of the cutter, but it looks well made and with proper care and maintenance should last a long time.

Must buy expensive drill to use
Videos show different drills work but my ridgid 18v drill couldnt turn it. Have to order a big milwakee drill as recommended on website before I can give review or product. Disappointed in having to buy drill that's much more expensive than the expensive tool
