Simple, Secure, Easy to install!

I bought this when my old schlage keypad started getting the numbers rubbed off the numbers. This one is superior as it's not a rubber number to press and move around. The things I like about this lock are: -Battery lasts forever because it's not moving an actuator -You have to move the deadbolt - good for doors that are slightly misaligned! -not rubber keys -easy install -default secure pincodes -ability to remove all pre-programmed keycodes after you program your own in -light on top; handy!

I love these locks

I have three of these at my home. I haven't been burgled so I can't vouch for the security. But these are far better than the old Kwkset combo locks that came with the house. My research indicated these were superior. The battery lasts forever...years... bc there isn't an actuator motor to eat up battery life. Should the battery die between uses, there's a way to use a 9v battery to power the lock from the outside. It's a very clever design. The combination allows the user to turn the latch themselves. I don't need a battery performing that task for me, just need it to allow me to operate the latch. These are much better looking locks. They feel more solid, more secure, higher quality build. Finally, the default combinations are real, randomized numbers that the user can retain securely, should they desire. This tells me Schlage really cares about the security of customers' homes. They know many folks don't change the factory combination so Schlage does not ship with "1-1-1-1" defaults. Note that NO KEYS ship with these locks, they are keyless. You can't monkey with the cylinders from outside the door. If the battery dies, the only way to gain entry is with a 9v battery with charge, and knowing the combinations. If you forget the combination, there is a way to revert to factory defaults, but you have to know the factory defaults. Or you will need to break into your own house. I've never had an issue. Recommend!

Great Lock, just works

This is the second one of these I've installed. This one is replacing a similar product that opened and closed on its own. That wasn't good because depending on the temperature, sometimes our back door can be tough to lock. This lock allows us to use a code to get it but the actual locking and unlocking is done manually. For me that's what I needed so that when it's a bit sticky I can just turn a little harder. Other notes: the product looks great. The build quality is very good (it's a study, metal lock). I also like that it has battery connections on the outside so that you can still get in your house with a batter if the one in the lock dies. You won't even notice the connections if you don't know they are there. Very clever.

Simple shared access

I wanted a lock on the back door that could be accessed by guests and staff but didn’t need to be wifi connected. I also wanted a lock that would not eat up batteries constantly. This deadbolt lock fit the bill perfectly. I already use a Schlage keypad door handle unit on the front door and that one has been great for 2 years ( I have not changed the battery but I probably should soon) the deadbolt was an easy direct replacement for the existing keyed deadbolt. Installation took about 5 minutes and it seems solid and looks like it’s always been there. Keep in mind this lock does not move the bolt sonos essentially a manual deadbolt. The keypad only engages the latch to move the deadbolt once a correct code is entered. This is why the battery life is so good in these units. To lock the deadbolt, you need to press the Schlage button on the keypad when the bolt is unlocked, then you lock the deadbolt by turning the outside latch. From inside it functions identically to a standard deadbolt. I don’t mind this as it means there’s less of a chance of a lock out, but if you need the ability to lock it remotely, this won’t be the lock you need.

Great Security - No lost keys

I recently purchased a vacation home for wife and I and our extended family. I wanted to change the lock ASAP, but didn't want to have to worry about lost keys, or getting keys to kids, grand kids, or even a service person. This lockset allowed me to create plenty of unique combinations so that each of my authorized individuals have their own, easily remembered 4-digit code. This has been easy to install, easy to program, easy to use. A perfect solution to securing a vacation home.

Looks good, easy to install, no keys

I like the look of the lock. We replaced an older version that the buttons had started cracking on. So far the lock was easy to install and easy to use. I can't speak to how long it will last but gives every appearance of being a quality product.

Cheap but effective

The only complaint I have is that it does not lock or unlock automatically. I assumed, since most others do, that it did this automatically. It does not. You have to turn the dial and there is no indication, from the outside, whether the lock is locked or unlocked.

Perfect locker

Everything works, I saw reviews from 2018 about drilling the lock, not applicable anymore, Schlage fixed the vulnerability, you can see the screw on the right bottom was moved slightly to accommodate the anti drilling plate. Also somebody mentioned pitching the wire with the deadbolt moving mechanism, that is fixed too, there is a plastic sleeve guiding the wire on my locks, 2021 models. So far so good, installed easy and love everything about the lock. Backup open method, no keys, no wifi or BT to mess with, solid lock. I bought 3.

External battery option doesn't work

One of the key features of this lock is the ability to plug a 9-Volt (rectangle) battery in externally to unlock the deadbolt in the event that the internal battery dies while you're locked out. We bought these 2 years ago, so finally got to a point where the internal battery died. Did connecting an external battery work? NO! We were effectively locked out because there is no key option. I should also mention that there was no warning (no beeping or lights flashing) that the battery was dying. Ultimately I would not recommend these locks, get yourself a version with a key. Also, Schlage has some of the worst customer service I have ever come across. Get a different brand!!

Super easy to install, works great though the handle to replace the old Door knob should come as an all in one package. But super happy with this over all.

Uses your hand to throw the bolt, which is far more reliable

Excellent lockset. I did not want a "smart" version that you can operate via phone because they are finicky without perfect door&jamb alignment, and they consume much more battery power. This is perfect for a family, no need for everyone to have a key. Our first battery lasted about 6 months and we are on our second. No problem in -20C weather but the door likely conducts heat from the inside. If you want to use this on a garage door or unheated building, it is possible that you might have low temp performance issues. My wife was very picky on the shape and design, this is why we settled on this model. It looks good in place and we now have three identical models. We would have not bought the second two of we didn't like our first trial balloon. Easy to set up a second or temporary combo for visitors, contractors, etc.

Great look and works well.

Easy to install and nice big numbers. I really like the light goes on if I press the Schlage logo above the numbers when coming home in the dark.
